    the e-mu thing?

i think you need the special hardware to run it, even though all the filters are done in software so it wont be much use to you unless you have one of those 1820m or whatever things already

    where did you see that?

"Emu-X can be used with whatever soundcard output you like, I tested this using my audiophile and it was fine... It won't work though if you don't have the EMU hardware in your system, it acts kind of like a dongle." - quoted from dogs on acid

maybe its been cracked but i've been looking and i havent seen anything yet.. would be cool if it has!

My source claims that you do not need the hardware. I think that he asked E-MU about it and they told him that you do not need hardware. That is probably why you cannot seem to find it 'anywhere'. They do not know that one does not have to have the hardware in order to run it.

No not at all. I have got sx now. My father even found a scsi card the other day so that is where I am at now. I might be able to buy a used Ultra if a friend of mine 'finds' emulatorX, and if he likes it he will perhaps be at a point where he wants to sell his sampler.

dunno if yer referring to samplers or what.......
well, samplers dont really create sounds out of a scratch.
u need to sample something and then mutilate em

that is what my father says to me all the time. "it would be nice if you could make your own sounds and noises". yes i understand that sequencing is not the creation of sounds. it is a lot harder to talk about things that are related to production simply because i do not have any experience with production and hardware at this point.

although i'm not sure about the sense in talking about cracked software on a public forum.

For your Info my Finnish boy wonder you can create your own sounds through sequencing.I do it all the time!!!!

Sometimes I program sounds just from writing tons of sysex data for specific machines or instruments/keyboards & play it in the sequncer & sample the results & jeezus with a bit of 'know How'
(forthcoming on Subtle Audio late 2004)

    the sounds can be brilliant!!!

On top of that you can write or record midi cc data & also replay this on any compatible instrument & enjoy the results

(sorry for my nerdy moment folks)

Yeah that shit gets rinsed ^^^^

I just draw a load of fucking mental CC info, play it through one synth and bounce it, different synth, bounce, different synth bounce...

As AO says a little know how and you can get some sickness..

i wanna know if i can get the 1212 now and maybe upgrade with an AudioDock M class later on ???

i see notices mentioning it doesnt work with current drivers but EMU are fixing it?

meaning you can run an audiodock, sync card AND a 0202 card from the same 1010 mother card?

    ack

firstly sorry to bump an old thread.
i have the em x soft with no s/c just tried to run it and it will not. so whoever said it could never tried!
i need to pick up 1212..
    here's the error msg

The streaming engine could not be initialized.
-There was a problem initializing the streaming engine. This is most likely caused by a driver version mismatch.

    ah, no john.
    well, yes you can.
you can get the audiodock if you already have the 1212.
but it says in the manual you'll have to take out the 0202 card first.
so its just the audiodock and the 1010.
