    yeh its cool shit

waiting for other platforms to take on this concept.

fxteleport will do it for other hosts on the windows platform, but i use SX on a Mac.

Steinberg pioneered the system link thing of course, but each machine requires a soundcard etc - whereas apple nodes, and fxteleport use ethernet.

have you thought about buying several mac minis and stacking the bastards up ?

have you noticed how it does load balancing ?

does it try and fill the node first then the master ? Or does it try and balance equally between them ?

I think that one of the great benefits of dual cpu systems is that one cpu can deal with GUI stuff, so even when your utilization is pretty high, the GUI is still pretty responsive.

Have you compared the max performance when using the mactop as the master vs using the G5 as the master ?
Is there any difference in feel of the app when its maxed ?
Is there any difference in upper limit of track / plug count ?

I know you may never need to max them out, i m just interested in that sort of stuff

g5 as a master g4 as a node is deff smoother, im running my songs archive of a seperate firewire disk connected to which ever machine is master therefore the disk access time are the same for both systems but the g5 is just way more powerfull than the g4 so as a master the logic ui and processing times are far lower

i have just got apple remote desktop and im gonna try using that to operate logic running on the g5 remotely.... if that works and its not to slow then its gonna be fucking wicked!!!!!! i have remote control for my kurzweil and full control over the hardware routing thru the hammerfall mixer so ...

The latest issue of Sound on Sound (April 05) features Logic Nodes' usage in it's Apple Notes column. Anyway, as alternatives to using ARD they recommend some freeware client and server (Virtual Networking Computing) applications allowing remote control of Logic nodes.

try www.redstonesoftware.com/vnc.html for the server and http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc for the client
