Junglists getting into..Broken beats / Nu Jazz / Old Jazz...

Have to say I am getting more into these sounds lately.....

The new broken sounds with labels/artists like: twisted funk, 2000 black, omniverse, archive.......4 hero, marc mac, dego, marc de clive lowe, dkd, kaidi Tatham, domu, nathan haynes....also

Older Jazz/ Funk..artists like: Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Weather report, Roy ayers, Lonny liston smith, Wayne Shorter.....
Thats to name only a few artists, So much classic older music to check out as well......

Something a bit more "musical" and "instrument based"..... especially the Arp Keyboard, Rhodes piano/keyboard sounds...and (live) drums of course!!!!

Im 100% behind you....some fantastic tunes gwan on....one of my favourites is Twothesme - absolutely off key track on creating patterns...have been tuned into it ever since it came out in 2001.

Have been to a good few broken beat nights and used to get L Culture (I.G. Cultures lil bro ) to spin in Studio B in dublin about 2 years ago now.

I was lookin through my records last night and came across one that I havent listned to in over a year its on the archive lable and its got Domu and Paradox & Volcov on it - i cant wait to give that a listen again! (i dont have decks) ooh and i got my broken beats records brought over to me!

yeah man i like broken beat, but too much of it sounds the same. its all a bit stevie wonder at times. which is a pity. I've got a 12" by cousin cockroach (dego) on bitasweet which is dark and grimey -almost dubstep really, which is amazing, and some of the nubian minds broken beat stuff is awesome. i ilke Domu, but there is too much of the same keys and vibes used in his tunes, i'd say a few others in the scene are the same. although twisted funk is a BADBOY label, and scattered snares blew my mind. maybe i'm just checking the wrong people within the scene - generally i just listen to somatik on nuwaveradio to hear the new stuff, but he plays mostly Dollis hill kru.

can you reccommend any stuff like i just mentioned ML?

oh yeah, if you're getting into jazz/funk stuff - check weather report:

Yean Somatik and Nu wave radio is essential listening and obviously they play more Dollis hill tunes..but they still play a fair variety.....

So far I have been mostly buying/listening to the old Rivet cru's output..
and just getting into this.....but the following are definitely worth checking:

    Marc de clive lowe
    Nathan Haines
    People records
    Chilli funk
    Jazzanova
    Kyoto Jazz Massive
    Far out records
    Phil Asher
    Kaidi Tatham....very talented musician
    All Bugz in the Attic

Also out last week were New Roy Ayers remixes PT 1, PTs 2 and 3 to follow, which i thought were good, plenty of variety on the funky/broken/breakbeat tip

    http://www.juno.co.uk/products/18878...ht=roy%20ayers

Have u heard of Neon Fusion, (3 of the bugz cru) they had an album out in 1999 "future aint the same" which i managed to get....Wikked tunes on the early broken tip.....worth checking

What about the old 2000black releases....ALL WIKKED!!!!!

There is a Phil Asher track called 'Love Happens' floating about on CDR at the moment.

Amzing track - very Chicago with some Detroit soul in there too, just rolls along.
