didn't do anything for me. hitler and his posse weren't just raging monsters but human beings? their last hours were a really hard time? of course, i already knew that. sorry, i can't see what this film could give me. feel with them? yes, the children-subplot was good and touched me, but i couldn't figure out what the rest wanted to tell me.Originally Posted by ashes
i thought that angle was a good one and to be honest it hasnt really been done in modern cinema so i think this is a valuable asset to the film world.Originally Posted by littleNemo
i dont think you were supposed to sympathise with them having a hard time.
the film gave me a sense of claustrophobic madness and its always great to watch the fall of the third reich.

That madness doesn't do anything for me when there's no connection to the characters. Hitler as senile vegetarian with a funny tremor, come on. And I prefer the downfall of the 3rd Reich with a Spielbergesque background story (der Führer today in Buenos Aires dreaming of the old timesOriginally Posted by Ashes

There was more to Hitlers character in the film than just being a "senile vegetarian with a funny tremor"- funny phrase tho.
I thought is was an excellent film. In no way was it sympathetic to the Nazis. It really laid out how pathetic most of them were - Yes men too afraid to tell the boss how it really is. Their attitude to the German people was frightening as well. Basically, they thought if they were too weak to carry out the Nazis' plans, then they all deserved to die. Rotten.
