SC - Vol 1 - time to cut the loss ?

So, still around 100 copies left ? Wasn't this the case about a month or 2 ago aswell ?

In truth that 100 are going to take another year to sell (at best)

Statto, I think it's time to cut the loss and sell some onto shops?

Some might even take them for £10. But nearly all would give at least £8 or £9 - and at least you'd recouperate most of yer money.

Make 1 Subvert responsible for the collection of money from their local shop / shops and get the money back in that way.

In my experience - most shops will pay you upfront... as they will only take 2 or 3 copies to see how they do at first.

Anyone else have thoughts on this ?

i cant believe all 300 didnt sell yet, its pretty ridiculous, such great music too

i agree, although the idea of losing money obviously isnt too great, but better to get most of it back than be down and have 100 copies collecting dust

It would take much more than a year to sell them all online through forum advertising and what not, selling them to shops sounds like the best bet. At least the inventory is sitting in a shop getting attention than in a closet "collecting dust"

Get some copies over here in the U.S. shops too, they'll sell for sure. Dwarde, your right, it's amazing music, some of the freshest beats I've heard, I thought this would sell out fast.

well, shops i've supplied direct are:

    urban decay
    lost soul
    fidelity dj
    wax (before it closed )
rooted records in bristol + (1 other shop, on gloucester road) when i was over there
    selectah in dublin
blackspot in limerick (before it closed )
    plug in cork (ireland)
and a record fair that comes to limerick every now and again

but you should sell them to any shop that will take them for £8 or more...
there were alot of shops i couldn't supply myself as nu urban had taken care of them already, so you will be able to find takers everywhere basically.

But it would sell instantly - IF IT WAS IN THE SHOPS!

Loadsa people have bought Subtle Audio records but only a fraction of them off me directly... not everyone into this style of Drum & Bass is on the internet or reads threads on forums regularly.

You can't just focus on one marketing strategy - it doesn't work.

the only problem with shops is that the records would be much more expensive...

£10 is cost, plus I have to get them there, plus the shops have to take their percentage, and if they're selling online there's postage on top of that

    what to do

Well if you are getting £9 for them I think you should take the hit!

You should try and avoid posting if possible. Wait till you're hooking up with a reliable Subvert who can get a few vinyls to shops in London or Bristol or wherever.

The shops will probably want to charge at least £12 if they get them for £9, but I still don't think that's too expensive?

Only suggestion would maybe trying starting a SC Ebay shop , maybe get added on to Street Beat searches ect. and u could add paypals percentage to the cost , which i dont think would put it up by much.

The shop were I work has basiclay stopped most of its websites trade and now most online trade comes thru the ebay shop.

    Code tells the truth.
It'd fucking sell if it was in the shops.
We could promote the fuck out of it, include clips, maybe even make a mix of the tunes on the EP, and ppl would comfortably include that EP in their order from Juno/Redeye/Chemical etc.
    I'm sure it'd work.

True - but its better to make 80%-90% of the cost back rather than 60%.

well, even if you have to sell it as low as £7.50, I still think it would be worth doing...
