aight subverts, you're a smart bunch, i need your help...

    please, that is...

i need a laptop to run serato, and would also like to use it for music production, and general use (internet, graphic design, ect.)...

i don't know a ton about computers, just a little bit from using the internet the past 5 - 6 years...

but from talking to friends, the majority are saying get a mac...

it's strange, i got 2 different friends who work at ibm, and one says get a mac, the other says get a pc (windows)...

the arguement for the pc is that i can get more bang for my buck, and won't have to learn to use a mac b4 getting started w/ things (plus he can hook me up w/ tons of free shit for it)...

the arguement for the mac is that "it will never crash", "it's more stable", "it won't get a virus" (at least if i get one that doesn't have the intel processors the new ones have), "it's more user friendly" (like, you plug in a printer, an external harddrive, ect., and it automatically comes up, it's smarter, you don't have to install shit, and jump through a bunch of hoops), ect....

now one thing's for sure, by the advice of a friend who's had serato crash on him (on a mac), i'm getting seperate external harddrives for everything (one just for serato/mp3's, one just for music production, and then use the internal one for everything else i suppose)...

but what do you guys think?...

i wanna make my money count, ya know?... want this to last, and work well, w/ little to no problems...

    i certainly appreciate your help...

ha that would not be me then

anyway go for pc, if like you say the software has been crashing on the mac then the pc is the way to go. you get your monies worth and upgrading is straightforward, im sure some1 will have a valid reason for the mac but i would go with the pc

yes get external hd's they are life savers

well, that happened to my homeboy who has everything on one internal harddrive, and that's why he said go for seperate external ones for everything...

from what i hear, i'm sure serato can and will crash on a pc, just as easily, if not more...

i'm asking around quite a bit b4 i drop this chunk of change...

i really want guys who've been producing on computers for years to tell me what they use, now, after all the years of experience, what they trust, ect....

as well as people just starting out, like myself, what's been user friendly for them, ect....

    thanx for the reply sir...

I run a G4 ibook for the same purpose. If you can afford the mac, I'm sure you would be happier. However if you do go with a PC, avoid Dell because the power supply has been known to put out a hum on PA systems.
