    cubase editing help

have 8 tracks of drums (live kit, kick snare etc)

is it possible to edit them as if im editing a single file without bouncing them down?

    like gluing them together?

i dont mean just hi-lighting the 8 tracks and splicing in the project window, for example, i want to be able edit the kick in the sample editor (starts and ends) and after closing that, find the 8 tracks have been spliced exactly where the kick start and ends where..

i usualy bounce them down to a single file so i can chop them like i do sampled breaks.. but, for example, if the kick is too quiet il have to go back an mix down again.

folder tracks. Right click, new track, folder track. Drag em all in there, can use one 'lump' to edit all 8 tracks

ah.. didnt quite work as id hoped.

thats great for editing in the main window, but when i double click the folder track im faced with 8 sample editor boxes, still have to fine edit them individually..
and opening/ editing only one track from the folder does not alter the others.

you just have to chop in the main window. Is that not how you do it, thats how it (used to ) chop in audio.

i chop in the main window, but double click each bit i chopped which opens them in a editor window which allows me to zoom in and edit the starts and ends more accurately.

    fair enough im well scruffy

one youve sorted the start and end of each slice could you not just use those parts? i dunno, finding it hard to viusalise how yorue working tbh, plus not done any beats in cubase for a while...

im sure there will be a way, cubase is like that, prob buried in there somewhere, good luck with it.

    cheers dude.
    no worries.
i have 8 mono tracks of drums as opposed to 1 stereo file. for example; once i have the start and end of the kick, i still have the left and right overhead channels to go with that kick, so they need to be chopped when im chopping the kick otherwise they will be slightly out of phase doing them individually.

oh ok. You know if you select more than one with the select tool then select cut, it cuts all 3 at once ?

yea.. i mentioned that in the 1st post

works well in the main window, but even if all 3 are highlighted, when you double click them they still open up 3 separate editors for fine editing.
