Just ordered a x0x kit from willzyx. Saw he's running a 10% off coupon "june acid" so I figured it might as well be time to get into it... haven't had time to do much else since the shruthi though, but got some beginners parts kits (bunch of resistors and a small box of misc stuff) along with a breadboard.

Anyone have a quick link to breadboarding for dummies? I don't even know how to power the damn thing, hahaha. Hoping to do a simple opamp circuit for a lofi spring reverb on it before going to vero...

    congrats man.

With inlaws staying and redecorating ive not done anything for ages.

in the process of stripping my studio and starting from scratch, bought an enormouse analogue desk, complete chance of appraoch. Will be interesting.

Once thats all done i need to sort of my x0x (few minor problems), finish up my liquid hihat, and the phaser ive nearly finished, and then build an entire modular!

    keep up the good work

    Cheers

Things will come together, sometimes a forced break can end up with focused progress down the road.

Actually, came across some of your correspondence with the guys on deathlehem when looking up DR110 mods. Think that's my next project so I can have a super basic DIY acid kit (DR110 recased with DIN sync, as many voice mods as I can figure out and the x0x). Also got the bits for a couple LM386 opamps, so hopefully can figure out a lofi spring reverb soon enough...

Modulars are so tempting! What format and modules are you thinking of starting with?

Finally had time to sit down and trouble shoot my x0x, and got it working! Have a synthrotek RAT distortion clone up next and hopefully get on with a spring reverb some time....

Anyone else seen Anushri? Looks like a fun box!

I was reading about it last night, looks like a nice project (but too advanced for me - I know nothing of electronics). I'm wanting to make something then house it a fine wood case... is this a mid-life crisis?

My friend has one, although i'm not entirely sure what he plans on doing with it. I think he just liked the idea of it. What would you like to know? I can ask him.

I have this drive to make a basic sampler from a raspberry pi... not that I know a damn thing about where to start, but I think the potential is there.

Polyphonic, basic time stretching (of course with nasty artifacts), chromatic pitch scaling, slicing regions and keyboard splits for drum kits. Multitimbral would be sweet as well (even just 2 parts).

Basically a VST sampler in a cigar box. Talk about overly ambitious....

Edit: Looked around some more and saw someone got Pd Extended on one , but someone else found there's awful MIDI latency currently .

Gonna do some mods to my Shruthi. Input and output gain knobs, pole selector switch and bandpass switch. Should be pretty easy, been having a blast using just that with my sp404 and a cassette deck.

Hopefully going to finish the synthrotek Rat clone to use with the x0x. After that probably going to try to finally figure out a spring reverb. Dreaming of a simple acid setup (x0x with Rat, mfb522, 1202 with lofi delay and spring reverb sends).

You got me hooked PDX! Def worth it though, just as fun to make these things as it is to fiddle around making noises.

you mean the mods detailed by martin walker from sos? yeah im going to do that myself very soon too. swap notes.

Ive finished an oakley phaser, deep equinixe, and also a foniktronik triple bandpass filter, not done much in ages, been busy with life, and actually making music ! but getting well back on it, made a little workshop in the garage! once its a bit warmer itll be great.

going a bit ambitious and going to try a full monosynth next, ive got just about enough pcbs to do it without buying anything else (yeah right) so going to give it a crack...

nice tune in your sig BTW

    cheers, Ben

    Yep, then sold it again.

Actually been practising soldering and making a decent job at it with a shoddy £10 25w iron. Still not got the time to build the Sammich but I'm heading in the right direction. Life, sadly, is top priority at the mo still.

Yea, that looks fun to jam on, along with the FrauGelico (think that's the spelling). LoFi classic drum samples are always welcome! MIDI in as well.

Finished the RAT clone, but it's not working. Think it's due to my attempt at surface mounting the 3pdt switch (stomp switch) to keep from having the pcb floating in the box. Gonna be fun to desolder the 9 points and wire it up.... really looking forward to that one. All in the name of acid.

Edit: PDX - Not sure about the SOS article, but http://mutable-instruments.net/wiki/SMR4_mkII_mods is what I'm planning on following (except spdt switches instead of sp3t, like in the last image).

Also, I updated the Shruthi firmware to 0.97... duophonic mode is totally rad.

Got the RAT working! Just had the input jack wired up wrong.... lovely sounding with the x0x. Going to dive into a spring reverb...

-->NICE<-- Definitely on my want list. Doesn't look any more difficult than the shruthi either.

looks great, time to practice soldering - picked up some cheap noise making kits today to see if I could pull something like this off...
    never to old

You'll be good, expect to fubar your first kit, but it's really not that difficult. Kind of like color by numbers if you stick with full kits. It's very satisfying to put something together and then jam with it. Let us know how you come along!

Totally bitten by the modular bug. Can't decide if I want to brave an all DIY headache to save money or just sell off some unused gear to get started with premade stuff.
