Ok, I just got Logic Audio (5.5)... What is the best way to make some filter tweakings for audio tracks? I'd like to do it with track automation. I'm a novice - some "for dummies" -help is needed...!

you will need a) a filter inserted as an effect, and b) an automation track.
i'm not sure how you do the latter in logic, hopefully ao will drop in a mo.
especially when i direct him here.

right this took me a while 2 suss out aswell especially after switching from cubase where automation is so damn easy.
set up an audio track & put whatever instrument you want in there for use.
then after playing whatever you want in put a filter in the effect slot(autofilter works fine for me)
then on the toolbar at the top of the main logic page select view
& a prompt will come up asking if you want to view automation for this track or all.i usually select all.
then you can view any automation your gonna do.
from here, click on the channel you wish to do the automation on & underneath the name you will see some writing in a slot.click on this & a drop down menu will appear saying what can be automated on that channel.
like the channel mixers volume,panning,eq,etc.... & also the controls on the autofilter you put in earlier(or any effects & instruments you've out on that channel.)
here you select cutoff then you will see,in the automation box a line thats pretty straight.
it should read 100% & b straight since there's no automation editing yet.
if you click on your pencil toolbox(scissors,glue,pencil,etc..) & select the pencil & click on that line you can start your editing.
you can draw shapes, curves, gradual rises,etc.,... in there & it will control your cutoff control on the filter.
you can then go from box 2 box in that automation box & draw automation lines on anything on that channel & if further editing is needed just click on the box that's in the sequence & click on view list
this will show you all the edits you've done as numbers, bars, lines etc... you can then further tweak there.
hope this helps...
btw once you've finished your automation editing you can switch off the view so the size of your sequence boxes are reduced otherwise you'll see all these lines & points all over your screen which can b a bit daunting![]()
