    [FILM] Ghost Dog

Just watched this (thanks to Jason oS for the recommendation!)

    great, great movie.

Well shot, nicely paced, soundtrack is great.

Also finally found out where Equinox got that sample for "Do You Understand Me" (from his EP on Planet Mu )

I'm sure there are some fans of this on here (Fanu, I recognise some samples from this in yer first LP too )

I guess this is an appreciation thread really.

Now, it's 1am and I just have to wait another 30 minutes before waking the missus to get a night bus to see Gremlinz B2B with Sinistarr ... weird night but good

One of my favorite films ever. Have a good night and good luck with the cold. Its 30 here which is quite cold for us at this time of year, struggled all week getting heat to work but finally got it on tonight!

I'm just gonna stay in the club for 2 hours (for the Gremlinz & Sinistarr set) and maybe to chat to them a little bit afterwards, will be good to hear some decent beats, not that many D&B nights I actually look forward to given the drivel that's normally played, but I think I can rely on these 2

It's cold here too - gonna be a shock to the system once I get outside, but it makes getting to the club all the better.

This... is the way... of the samurai ...

Anyway the movie did not have a big affect on me. I even forgot what it was all about

    Great film.

I watched it again quite recently and spotted loads of samples from Equinox to Burial.. so obviously has broad appeal.

I'm a big fan of forest Whitaker too, he's great!

personally I didn't, but yeah, I could see why you might think that !

I think the humour offsets the potential high Gouda-factor for me

The official soundtrack is pretty rubish, missing all the great RZA instrumentals, but the Japanese import OST is just pure gold!

I advise to watch another film of Jim Jarmusch - "The Limits of Control". And others: "Dead Man", "Coffee and Cigarettes", "Night on Earth", etc. Really great director!

I liked how it worked within the film...

I'm actually listening to some of the tracks from the soundtrack right now and, yeah, some are a little weak on their own.
Still, there are a few goodies in there.
That opening intro instrumental really made me sit up and take notice straight away when the film started :

The weird thing is that most of the tunes on the official ost don`t even appear in the movie! On the japanese import ost there are all the instrumental beats which you can hear in the film and they are rza at his best...so don`t get me wrong, i love the music which actually can be heard in the film, but most of it isn`t on the official ost... so get the japanese import, guys, i have it on vinyl, but with not too much research you`ll find it on the net

    I love this film.
So much so I used a sample in one of my tunes.
