statto writes:
"dnb follows the trajectory of post punk to a large degree. after an initial explosion of energy (hardcore / punk) aspiring musicians were freed from the fetters of musicianship and were inspired to explore new ideas, new ways (new forms?) of making music (dnb / post punk) - with amazing results. eventually new wave (as it was called back then) lost its impetus and ended up as the dregs of formulaic synth pop and indie rock (which would be what in dnb terms?), but the original music still sounds fresh and exciting today (to me anyway). this podcast is a varied mix (unmixed) of some of my favourite post punk from 1977-82 (the equivalent of 1993-98 dnb). hope you like some of it."
