Evil Robots Attacking Me?... punk, metal, hardcore

There have been mile markers within 90's punk, and hc, into the 2000's for sure.  I'm sure you can recall a few of them yourselves if you were geeking out to jams during that time.

At The Drive-In

I recall. I've talked to younger peeps over the years, who grew up listening to At The Drive-In in high school and such, not really associating ATDI with having such a huge influence on post-hardcore bands that came after, and even to this day in places. Some of said kids are obsessed with The Mars Volta now, which I've never gotten into personally, if only because ATDI is my fix if & when. I was a fan of Sparta tho, for post-ATDI action back when.  At The Drive-In have been active in recent years, reunion tours, and such, perhaps even new music, as quoted from various sources. I'll stick to the recordings. thus far  Randomly, I'm listening to ATDI as I post.

"VAYA" is perhaps my fave release."In/Casino/Out" is fantastic as well. Before I heard the music, the late, GREAT, Flipside Records / zine  (Los Angeles, CA, 1977 - 2000) was where I first read about the band circa 1996, before they blew up, when "Acrobatic Tenement" was released via Flipside Records. The chaotic angles started showing themselves by then, contrasting with the earliest releases, with ATDI having a more pop-punk sound in earliest releases. When "Relationship of Command" was released, I was attempting to have my buddy listen to the cd in the car. He turned it off. He didn't like it at all. He hated it. Too many things going on at once.  I think many people thought that. Definitely a challenging band to get into at times.  I value that tho.  Those angles were crazy.

STILL... "VAYA" for the win. To my ears at least. Xyxthumbs     I don't listen to At The Drive-In much at all these days. Its nice to step back into the rhythms at random times tho.  I can dig it.
