It was either "Drug Raid at 4 AM" or "Peeling Back the Foreskin of Liberty" for my thread song title tribute... lol "Can God Fill Teeth?" could work well too. Great song!
LISTEN.
LARD were / ARE a mythical band. As a kid, I was already a Ministry fan, I was already a Dead Kennedy's fan, just starting to dig farther back into the DK's back catalog then here and there. I had NO CLUE at the time that Jello would do The Ministry thing. In all honesty, I first heard LARD's "Last Temptation of Reid" cassette in my bud's car, ON ACID! No joke.
It was fantastic. Soooo good. There
may have been weed somewhere in the car as I recall,.. my memory is hazy past that..
Blaring through the car speakers that night, LARD WAS IT! Sold forever.
in 2017, Al Jourgensen is a car collision, a rehabbed, in need of rehab, thriving freak show these days, a mere caricature of decades of drugs & pyscho red neck sensibilities, it is all extremely odd, yet so VERY American. I mean, Jourgensen has had guest spots on the Alex Jones Show....they're "buds" it seems.. FREAK SHOW, wtf moments indeed!! I still like some of the tunes tho of course, case in point.
Jello Biafra is still Jello Biafra. Jello is still there if you care to listen, and pick his brain, or visaversa. In 2017, I'm largely grateful for that. LARD was perhaps my fave Biafra project ever. I stopped listening to Ministry shortly after "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste" lp, and into the 90's after LARD, I was moving quickly onto other bpm exploits. You can always come back to LARD tho. LARD is art.
Fuck it, LARD is "life". Cool?
