Ok, it's a tad long, but damn ... still one of the most hard-hitting yet majestic sounding songs ever recorded (to me at least)

"Decay", "Dreams Burn Down" and "Nowhere" are metal to me
2021 edit ** love the dubby rim shots in the live "Dreams Burn Down" vid
There's a new Ride 2017 lp "Weather Diaries" dropping in June.
I don't mind the new song "Charm Assault" from the new lp
tedious shoegaze rubbish
this is longer, more rocking, and just totally better in every way:
^^ in a way, i agree. heh.
this.
Can't seem to see the other youtube videos (only mine, which I added without the youttube-tag) Any ideas, why?
shoegaze - shmoegaze. Ride stood out, as MBV did Ok, found the link in the source code - Sonic Youth. Yeah, well. Never had much of a thing for them. Much to the dislike of some older friends of mine, who considered them demi-gods. I liked "100%" and "Bull in the Heather", which for my die-hard Sonic Youth fan-friends was them already selling out. Meh. I guess I was just too young then. "Kool Thing" was good, too. Most of the rest not so much. Please feel free to recommend me Sonic Youth in the vein of the aforementioned three songs In my musical world: Ride > Sonic Youth
I didn't like MBV either
I watched this last night. Awesome set recording.
Live, March 24, 2017.. a couple new tunes, "Charm Assault, "Home is a Feeling", "Drive Blind" as the finale is great. "Seagull" starts @ 10:39 mins in.. etc etc. Lannoy Point (0:00) Charm Assault (6:15) Seagull (10:39) Like a Daydream (17:22) Dreams Burn Down (20:50) Twisterella (26:59) Leave Them All Behind (31:03) Home is a Feeling (39:42) Taste (43:29) Vapour Trail (46:58 ) Drive Blind (51:29) Barrowland, Glasgow, Scotland - March 24th, 2017
Beach Slang do a kickin cover of "Like a Daydream" on their first mixtape cover release from 2015.

I like this.

But I'm not sure wether I'd go and see them. It's kinda weird to see old men doing "laddish" voices Saw Swervedriver last year (which was suprisingly good), but had the same strange sensation of some obvious mismatch going on. Whereas Peter Murphy seems to age very well ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amMztp1y4i4 A pretty neat version of a nigh impossible song to cover. Trent Reznor sort of f*cks the second vocal up a bit, but hey. Still classy.
^^ "laddish voices" ha.
Personally, I just try to ignore Andy Bell's Oasis band member alter ego
Randomly, I had "Kaleidoscope" in my head first thing when I woke up this morning.
Listening to "Nowhere" lp as I post. Dreams Burn Down ".. but we know we are doomed.." Basically my anthem right now, k? ".. waiting, hoping for a sign"... wall of noise. Repeat!
Andy Bell remixes and such. Nothing amazing but within the sphere.
Mark Gardener collab tune here. ** I watched the Gardener "Records in my Life" vid a while back. I've heard the same from Lush on how obsessed they all were with 2tone ska in their youth. Gardener mentions being an 80's b-boy, early hiphop fan as well. https://andybell.bandcamp.com/album/see-my-friends-ep
There's a couple decent tunes on the 2019 lp. Loz Colbert collab remix as Faders Down.

Ride
"Future Love".. showing everybody how it's done here too. Not really feeling much of the Pêtr Aleksänder remixes, & rearrangements of the 2019 album, but I get it. Prefer the original.
In other news.. seemingly, millions of hardcore & metal bands still doing the shoegaze thing for well over a decade now right? Indie radio is STILL flooded with shoegaze resurgents if & when I tune in. I heard a restaurant in my area play some shoegaze band to their diners on the outside patio the other week. Crazy huh?
I always liked Hundreth's take on more rockin shoegaze stuff from back when. They were a great melodic hardcore band to begin with imo, and completely flipped their scripts & changed sounds. Once again, one of the better hardcore turned shoegaze moments that I've heard. Surely Ride fans.
Hundredth, "Rare" lp 2017
The entire lp is extremely good for more recent Ride influenced joints from over the years. Once again, recommended. 0:00 Vertigo 3:28 Neurotic 6:59 White Squall 10:41 Hole 14:33 Suffer 18:23 Disarray 21:58 Down 26:04 Grey 29:03 Shy Vein 32:44 Chandelier 36:23 Youth 39:50 Departure https://hundredth.bandcamp.com/album/rare |
