I feel sick to my stomach!!

What I have just witnessed had made me feel sick to the stomach, question why I work in the fuckin NHS and the people around me that just sit there play along. I am shaking and so close to walking out!

I work for the NHS in a south london metnal health trust in temporary bank dept.

I have just witnessed 20 nurses put in cuffs and taken down the nick because they are potentially illegal immigrants.

We had received updated information from the home office on how to spot fraudulent documents.

What really has made feel so bad is that the staff here were told to lie and get these nurses to come in to check some paperwork. Liitle did they know that the immigration police were waiting for them.

If these nurses had been abusing the system then fine, but many of these nurses are hard working people that have come here to do a good job (that many brits will not do), they pay their taxes and NI and are a benifit to out society.

To cart these people of in handcuffs in wrong!! and most of the people in my office were happy to play along and deceive these nurses to come unknowingly to their arrest!

I was unaware of this whole situation until someone told me just this afternoon.

I has no chance to warn any of them, I feel so sick, it goes against everything I stand for.

I dont know if I can stay here anymore, I feel like crying!

There are some that did not turn up so are safe for now, but I sure they're going to try again with these people. if I try and warn them I will loose my job. I don't know what to do!

oh no thats feckin shockin. Unfortunately if you do warn them you will also be liable for being an accomplice to a crime so unfortunately you will have to stay out of it...if it wasn't for the above reason and you would only get fired I would tell those concerned.

I would consider getting into trouble for a cause, but being arrested ain't gonna help anyone I suppose..

this latest backlash against the Poles is just beyond me!

I love seeing Polish food and beer in my local Asian run corner store. Now i can cook Asian and Polish food just from ingredients from my local! (not together tho, that would be weird)

Another question that needs to be asked out of this, on the wider picture, is why are we as a country not producing enough Nurses here, so we are not so reliant on overseas workers......
