Proto J - LTJ Bukem Tribute Mix Live On WKNC 88.1 - 9/10/06

back in 1996 i discovered ltj bukem and the sound he was pushing and it changed my life forever... in 2006 we brought ltj bukem & mc conrad here to raleigh, north carolina. a few nights earlier i played a tribute mix live on nc state's college radio station, wknc 88.1...

it was recorded, but i wasn't entirely happy with it enough to release it to the public... also, this is sections put together of a much longer atmospheric d&b set i plan to record in the future...

it's decent tho, and so now i'm sayin' screw it and releasing it anyways:

yeah, it's mixed well... not as tight as i'd like, but it's all vinyl, no serato or cd's (so no key lock to mask finger fucking the records, haha)...

Listening, and loving, now....

seriously makes me want to recapture this kind of vibe again with tunes, though that's prob impossible - that whole kind of post-hardcore 'coming of age' era just had such an amazing (and surely unwitting) sound and optimism

On a technical note, it's also fucking great to hear some serious crossfader action, I really miss that shit, too!!!

drum cutting like that is one of my favorite things tho, danny bukem actually complimented me on it after the show, which was such an honor... and when he signed my "logical progression" record cover, he wrote "keep up the cutting!"... haha!

Fantastic selection and mix. Literally is a delve into my faves from that era. Couldn't have picked it better myself

If I was to be critical, I don't like the double drop at the start. So glad the rest of the mix didn't go like that mix as it just doesn't suit this sound imo. Other than that, spot on.

That goes firmly into the archives for playing when I need that GLR fix.
