Paradox is a badman for pulling off a live show like that. Shame I haven't seen him play yet! The crowd looks boring btw.
Seen Dev 4 times...once at Rupture, once at Technicality, twice at IChiOne, as Alaska and Paradox, respectively.
I wish I saw Paradox live. As a matter of fact, a show with any DJ playing drumfunk would be just fine. I'm not asking for much. I saw Doc Scott live for the first time last fall. He played the 2-step nonsense that sounded almost like techno for two hours. I was hoping that he would include at least one track with the amen break in his set. It did not happen. I was extremely disappointed, and couldn't believe it was the same guy who created "Here Come the Drumz", "Drumz 95", "The Unofficial Ghost", and "Shadow Boxing". I don't want to be misunderstood. Big respect to him for shaping the scene in the 90s, but what I heard that night was nowhere close to the music he used to play in the Blue Note era. Sorry for going off-topic, but I had to vent my frustration somewhere...
^ I know exactly where you're coming from mate! I feel the same about contemporary dnb DJ culture.
Back on topic: Does anyone remember if they broadcasted The Outer Limits (1995) in the UK back then? Channel 4 or Sci Fi perhaps? I can imagine this show featuring an episode about breeding alien eggs or mutant frogs that might have this sound effect...
Alternatively does anyone remember other TV shows with a similar theme from around that time? (1995/1996)
I can't help you of course. Well maybe.
The Danny Breaks 96 documentary was on SC.
But for everyone else: it's a pond of condenser microphone recorded frogs, quite easy to do. To get the A Certain Sound sound effect, any reverb and delay pedal with the right tweaking gives the effect. It's like chorus effect; what frogs are known for as well.
