BTW, I can't say I agree with a lot of this article...

that's quite a lot to read, saved for later Xyxthumbs

still not used to the 'flashcore' term....

old habits.

Flashcore article - pacific - 28th May 2007

Only Laurent uses the flashcore term... The only connection between La Peste, Neurocore, Sedarka and Atomhead/Undacova is the use of granular synthesis and a stochastic element... They all have totally different ideas about music. Sedarka and Atomhead don't even like hardcore.

ive heard about la peste when he released this wtc thing, it was ok but i was still under the influence of 0=0 which for me is a more musical version of this kind of music, breakcore or flashcore or whatelsecore. thats why im still into it, you can still notice the dnb roots in it and its just something what jungle might be if it would still develop - think, just breakbeat, bass and samples overall [i know, sounds pretty straight, but its still something what requires lot of passion, idea and talent]. the jungle now sounds like ripclaw [big big big ups to this czech fella] and its very similiar to those -core things.

edit:

Quote:We had a crystal clear sound and I was on no drugs, standing in the middle of the room with my eyes closed (dancing was not an option).
thats mostly what breakcore producers aim for - fun and experiencing music without drugs.
i dont do drugs.

la peste's stuff is nothing like any of that now Wink

That's a quote from my friend Gunter Saxenhammer... And this stuff is so far from breakcore... ... ...

There's a focus on the visual/synaesthetic aspect in this music. In particular, imagery of the supermodern. Music to describe an architectonic condition without history, time or location. Not escapism because that implies a link with the real physical world. This music attempts to take the listener to an abstract space without time or location by totally breaking down learned structures in audio through the use of granular synthesis and other techniques... Games with rhythm and melody (vs what the listener expects to hear).

I dunno if I'm describing that too well, but I suggest you listen to that Atomhead podcast on there...

The closest you would get to it in breakcore is Xanopticon.

Also, I don't like the Simon Reynolds quotes, the linkage to "speedcore techno" and the cybergoth bit (perhaps added because laurent did the event at electrowerkz (venue of slimelight)).... I'm pretty brutal lately though, and at least someone's got off their arris and written something.

yeah, but the borders are not very clear since every single artist descibes himself totally different - generally, this noise, with 480 bpm distokicks, rave synths etc sounds pretty similiar to me.

please be aware that also some breakcore artists can say that about their music - its not like breakcore is for dancing, and flashcore just for listening to.
breakcore for me is basically this fresh, new approach to the music we knew/enjoyed - pushing the bounduaries, implementing some harsh noise moments in the tracks, reversing whole melodies, everything.

its good to get some inspirations from it, but nothing more as for me - dunno, dont believe its something too brutal and gives me headache - there are lot of other dnb tracks which are quite dark and psycho-driven, and can cause the same 'soul-damage' as the fcore ones do - but its just something different, and there are other elements used that do it for me.

hope you understood me Roll

I think I have a problem with that, as it seems to favour the mind over the body. I'm very interested in the psychedelic effect that noise can have on the listener through a sensoric overload, but in a way that fuses body and mind together instead of seperating them.
