^^ that drummer is gonna be a beast in a couple years. Good job for the kids!

I've never been a King Diamond fan, I'm still not, but I get the allure of the band as a package. As a kid getting into metal, King Diamond seemed really elusive, I only saw and learned about King Diamond in metal magazines at the time, and of course the whole 80's satanism panic that was all over 80's tv talk shows and news reports egged on the extremity of the imagery even more. Of course, Marilyn Manson with similar imagery would be pop music later on. lol. Irony. Listening to the live King Diamond gig posted above, the band is really tight. Of course, Peterson's vocals are pretty devoted this far on, dude is 64 now. Mercyful Fate.. important. Danzig vs Peterson as 80's brooding front man.. hmm. Regardless, respect for the craft.

I've been enjoying a few of the Ruthless Metal youtube channel posted vids as of late.

Apparently some of the subtitles are a bit off in translation, but so far so good.  Watching as I post.  A locally produced documentary in Norway from 2020/2021.  Seems to give more attention to the personalities and actual stories of musicians involved rather than the usual shock & scandal associated with said era. Which is refreshing. I like the details of early diy metal zines & related mail order channels that got the momentum going.

Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story

In the early 1980s, a small group of dedicated Bay Area headbangers shunned the hard rock of MTV and Hollywood hairspray bands in favor of a more dangerous brand of metal that became known as thrash! From the tape trading network to the clubs to the record stores and fanzines, director Adam Dubin reveals how the scene nurtured the music and the music spawned a movement.

Murder In The Front Row is told through powerful first-person testimony and stunning animation and photography. The film is a social study of a group of young people defying the odds and building something essential for themselves.
