sorry to quote over and over but seemed easiest way
ive just finished steven king and peter straub - the talisman which wasnt great tbh - the sequal (balck house) is loads better.
used to love iain (m) banks but the more your read the worse it gets.
recommendations -
anything by tom robbins (Tah ub3rg0d<3) or something hes amazing
robert rankin is awesome comedy but maybe only for uk ? its very injoke blighty buizness set up the road from where i live...)
catch-22 by jospeh heller ive just finished before the talisoman and was awesome
most of aldous huxley's stuff..
its amaizing to think all this was written 80 years ago sounds as fresh as anything, island and antic hay being my favourites, and the obligatory brave new world
cant think of anythign else i consider 'essential', there are millions of good writers but the above have all stuck out as being amazing....
oh, chuck palanhiuk does some fucked up stuff (choke and invisible monsters recommended, though the film of fight club was better than the book).
and David Mitchell's Number 9 Dream. I thought that was excellent. and huge like a months worth. and i have no tv... I mean youve gotta respect any book really, you cant knock a book out in an hour like a tune...proper deication proper love and prob a similar chance of making any cash out of it as dnb...
i mean the body of work steven king has done is just ridiculous...
it would take me 20 lifetimes to copy it out, let alone write it
interesting thread
thanks for all the recommendations....
