Evil Robots Attacking Me?... punk, metal, hardcore

I'm a huge, long time fan of Thalia Zedek (Come, Live Skull, Uzi, etc) and I'm grateful and happy that she still makes music, approaches new band formations as she sees fit, and generally keeps her voice out there for those that source it out. Solo or otherwise, I've been listening to Thalia's discordance for well over more than a couple decades now, when the mood strikes. Ever challenging, never comforting, brooding as always, it's been her gift to the world. Well received in my psyche over the decades for sure.

Thalia Zedek's most recent band formation is called simply E (aka A Band Called E), featuring Gavin McCarthy of Karate fame (another past fave..), and Neptune's Jason Stanford, inclusive of a spot within the quality Thrill Jockey Records alumni with the debut, self titled E lp release. The record is great. I listened to it tonight as I post. Welcomed indeed.

Thalia Zedek kicks ass, confirmed, again, and again. Discordant blues... seeping through, as Thalia does. It is beautiful. Smile

Holy shart!

this thread passed 100k views as of late... lurkers of the sonic cloth, I see you?   I like noise, fast hardcore, shambolic dissonance of many stripes, depressive atmospheric metal, math equative (what?) tendencies, distorted pop punk, The Replacements, emo violence, Shotmaker, blackened crust punk, Aim Low from Montreal, and am awaiting the forthcoming new Fucked Up lp. I just seemingly post about it all on a music forum devoid of life, right?

If you haven't noticed, in 2017, music forums in general are largely devoid of life. So props to the now 100k + lurking views. Your silent internet presence has been formally acknowledged.

I listen to a lot of this stuff late at night, and often if I'm working when it calls for it. I once listened to The Replacements song "I'll be You" singularly on repeat for an entire 8 hour work shift, plus the additional couple hours heading home one day a few years ago. I'm like that. I had a dream about Jawbreaker songs the other night actually.. stuff like that happens. This thread just records my sonic attentions at any given time. If i gave you something to listen to late at night, peaked your awareness of brief sonic happenings in your area, perhaps inspired you to stay aware of local bands in your area, or given you a soundtrack to clean the house to, to pass on to friends, to spark a blunt to, or to walk to beach late at night with the headphones on.. I basically do most of the same in my own life at any given time. Smile  Cool?

I like how this far on, you can now freely make your own, self indulgent connections to Slint, Codeine, The Lily's, and such to aspects of current "black metal" at any given time if you chose too. Purists don't like it.. but fuck em.

Case in point.

Iconoclast - Freehold, New Jersey

1992 - 1995, Ebullition Records, Old Glory Records

I'm rather fond of Iconoclast's brief flourishes of beauty. It would have been interesting to hear what their sound would have morphed into.
There was glimpses of melody amidst the chaos, a marriage I've always been fond of.   Xyxthumbs
