another thread on the mouse on mars tip. Wink

have not kept up on them since "dots & loops" & "alluminum tunes
aka switched on vol.3". just wondering how the lp's have been since
those ones? i used to follow them religiously and pick up all the uhf
singles and lp pressings but sort of lost some interest after the albums
listed above. i credit it to less neu & can influence permeating the
later releases. has anyone kept up on them since? looking at filiing
some holes from the 98 onwards. "oscillons from the anti-sun" looks
like a decent compilation at a cheap price (word is it is worth the price
of admission for the dvd alone). i also read that 1999's "cobra and
phases group play voltage in the milky night" is a real nod to sun ra.
can you fill me in here?

the turn on lp was pretty cool -> http://www.discogs.com/artist/Turn+On less vocals more noodley electronics

since you're going back through the mom / stereolab stuff i'd highly recommend checking out rococo rot -> http://www.discogs.com/artist/To+Rococo+Rot

cheers dave. will check those out. i've actually been having a blast going
through some of my early to mid 90's records as of late. so many damn
good things in the collection that i haved not listened too in a long long time.

noodly electronics would definitely describe the period between emperor tomato ketchup and margerine eclipse (a real return to form imo)

Although, of course, the whole tortoise /john mcentire connection was still very cool.

Oscillons is an excellent compilation btw. I'm by no means a obsessive fan who buys all the tour 7"s lahdedah - so the compilation was a v. welcome addition.

That said, I have the 3 new 7"s sitting in front of me as i write.

I'll shut up now.

yes how are those 3 new singles? i got the email/newsletters thing a few
weeks ago regarding those. it was alot easier keeping up on all these
things when i was a buyer at a shop a looked at lists week in and week out.

they're good.
I think it's safe to say that if you like the 'lab - you'll like the 7"s - nothing outrageously different or wildly experimental but just 6 sides of poptastic stereolab niceness. smashing!

Interlok/Visionary Road Maps would be my pick though.
I know nothing.

Early Stereolab had only one song and it was a Neu! song.
Later Stereolab learned a second song and it was a Sergio Mendez song.
Teef

(I second the Turn On suggestion)

(I was referring to 'if I had to choose between the 3 recent 7"s' fwiw - wasn't implying it was their finest work)

Still think French Disko is a blindin single. It's an obvious choice - but stil does it for me.

imo "transient random noise bursts with announcements" is their finest cd... bought it when it came out along with "pet sounds" and "it takes a nation of millions to hold us back" ... what a fine christmas that was Lovesmilie
