What are your thoughts on Funky/Funky house?

The vibes really remind me of when I got into jungle, as in it was pure fun. I ain't too crazy about the big typical tunes, but Sticky, Perempay&Dee, Hardhouse Banton, and a few other people have made some good tunes I believe. I think in a way I like it a lot because it's so danceable, and fun sounding, like a big festival. Has anyone here benn checking these things out?

UK funky I assume you mean? Only found out about this about a month ago. Very UK garagey, so therefore I quite like it.
yeah some cool stuff, like it mixed up a bit with other bass music though....
Im sure there is some stuff I would love, if its anything like classic MJ Cole, Steve Gurley or Todd Edwards

But calling an entire genre 'funky' annoys me.

'hi recordshop owner, got any new funky in'

*shudder*
The Donadeo LP is well nice...but I aint expert tbh.
I struggle as it is to check other genres. Not to mention the money that is spent on music week in week out (hello Law!)

*cries*
From what I've listened to it's really not my cup of tea at all. In the fact the very idea that it's supposed to be fun and danceable puts me right off. Bought that Cooly G release on Hyperdub which I guessed might be classed as funky, but that seems to be more on the margins.

I'll probably get into it once it's got out of the limelight and out of the clubs.
sounds like too much they're having fun, which can't be good.
^ Hahaha
Liking the darker end of the spectrum; the vocal stuff is very Neutral in places
Well its club music innit!

So any quality artists to check out? (besides Crazy Cousins! Lol Smile )

I like the fact that you can mix other genres of music with it too, such as dubstep, house, garage, etc...

I ain't crazy about all the vocal things, but I do rate some, such as Donnaeo Devil in a blue dress. I think the first time I heard Donnaeo I didn't know if it was broken beat or something else, which is pretty cool for a record.

do they call this one the roundabout tune?

I don't like it, but it's more tolerable/better than "hard house"...
I don't really like it, but I'm loving my German house/techno these days - like this for example:

Sounds much funkier to me than the so called "funky house" coming out of the UK IMO. Each to their own I guess.

Ha ha.

I love a bit of Funky, and I also love how much the cheesy / party music / actually-quite-fun aspect of it winds up serious dnb and dubstep heads. It's like, there are actually girls at the clubs, and girls are gay.
Hmm in all honesty I actually find it offensive that any music with a standard four to the floor kick pattern has the gaul to call itself 'funky'. I feel exactly the same about disco.

If it was called something else, such as UK Fag Enabler I might give it more credence.
My thoughts are, god not another new genre name for a music form not really sounding that terribly different to what has come before!

Why why why. Grumble
