Does ANYONE make real, exciting breakbeat shit anymore??! (non-DNB)

MadMadMad

Really pissing me off that I'm googling the life out of my mac to find anything even remotely gritty/break-driven, yet am just being constantly directed towards bog-standard, ultra-clean, by-the-numbers, formulaic gurning shitpills dance-obsessed soulless fodderwank that nestles far too closely to all that electro adidas house or whatever the fidget fuck they call it bollocks Neutral

I'm looking for stuff akin to what Droppin Science were doing, or stuff like Hive before he went mad turd; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sew5FoQaw...re=related LovesmilieLovesmilieLovesmilieLovesmilieLovesmilie

or then there's OLD Freq Nasty stuff like 'Doc Hope' etc Yes (can't find any links for that one, unsurprisingly, as it doesn't sound like Paul Oakenfold accidentally hitting a new quantise setting in FruityTrance v12)

Surely there's still a few surviving humans that were affected by the Rave/Hip Hop/Sci Fi apocalypse who are still fucked up/inspired enough to create some edit-filled, 98bpm shit for me?!?!! Banghead

Or have N.A.S.A silenced everyone ever who even considered chopping a real break (with crackly bits, heaven forbid Icon_eek) and layering it with a sample of a neutron bomb hitting a North American city-eating 300ft lizard square in the scaly chest Roll

PLANET EARTH IS GETTING FUCKING BORING, QUICKLY
Epic post. Maff you never let me down. Lol
This is your cue to make some Maff Wink

And what on earth have NASA got to do with it? Hahaha
AQF's stuff got me excited anyway !

"In The Bull Run"

You need to goto 4:40 mins in. Though the 2 tunes before "In The Bull Run" are good too, just not so breakbeat orientated.

It's at a higher tempo than the Hive track you posted, but does that matter (140bpm ish)

"Rhythm Bomb II" - goto 1:55 on this link :

From the Vibert & Simmonds album (more oldskool influenced) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLboL65J9h4

Icon_eek Conor, AQF! Blown away by these, thank you mate.... Grin Maybe not exactly what i had in mind (which was maybe straighter, filthy breakbeat stuf) but it's further out again, which is def a good thing as a) it's amazing and b) i REALLY wouldn't know how to go about discovering shit like that! Yes It's pretty nuts, and also tying in beautifully with my renewed interest in Techno again - some really cool stuff there, will def be checking more.

Vibert/Simmonds stuff is wicked too, from your link i found a track called 'Asteroid Belt' off the same album, which is FRESH!!!

Great shout, although i was being a specific-prick and looking more for that real dark/sci-fi/horror kind of angle Wink

Lovesmilie AWAITING........

ps didn't mean to get too specific about BPM and stuff, not really arsed at all by that (plus the stuff i'm messing with goes from about 80-150bpm, depending on chance samples/etc), more about that breaky feel really, and wanting some gristle/attitude that's not necessarily Jungle or DNB whatever

Not "new" but it tickles my fancy......Wink
Icon_yippee @ J-Breaks! Nice.... some of it's really more straight hip hop/battle sounding than perhaps i'm after, but it all has a great vibe and i'm WELL into some of those more technological sounding/darker sections Xyxthumbs

Thank you very much mate! Cleaning my ears out nicely after all this UK dance nonsense i've suffered recently Wave
i make really good shit after breakfast, enuff to crack any bowl and blow out any nasal passages
In terms of stuff with breaks that's interested me recently, check out Duskky's free release at acroplane.org. Also great if you like zombie movie samples. Smile

Mmm, that bunch are all a bit 'plastique'/radio one for me guv. If you listen to the aforementioned and linked tune by Hive and then play any given track by the breakbeat media darlings you just mentioned, you will notice differences of quite incomprehensible proportions and thus be freed to declare yourself a disco-breaks fawning, utter fool Wave

Ps why would I shave my own hoop when I have you pestering me to do it all the time? Baffled

Icon_eek Acroplane are having my eye out here!!! So many amazing things i've heard on there since i started looking last night! Icon_yippee
I was only messing. Exact opposite of what you're after.

Pulse made some good stuff under an alias back many years ago. But the whole "nu skool breaks" scene, should one wish to label in a press type of way.

Bassbin Twins done a couple of decent tracks. Check out Woppa for some pseudo-jungle sounds. Cheesy-ish but tis rather good.

p.s think you'll find it's Mr Eupony-aton that's pestering you.

Damn straight. Acroplane really are the canine's scrotal sac. Paul ACP did a mix for my radio show last month which was pretty awesome too - not very break-heavy, but still awesome.
