You've read it already? Eek

It takes me 2 dedicated months to get through 1 issue!

how do you keep up then, given that they come out every month? Smile
I don't. I just skip last month's material if I get bored with it or even miss out a whole issue. Smile

Ever since I first bought The Wire in December 2006 I thought the issues were too big. And the only reason they do that is to pool revenue streams.
this one for #356:

Tom Johnson / Samuel Vriezen - The Chord Catalogue / Within Fourths / Within Fifths (Edition Wandelweiser)

I can never remember when in the month the new Wire comes out...

some time before the month on the front page – or more specifically, when my mate hands it over
That's it Jon, I'm gonna beat you to finishing this new one! Icon_razz

Laurel Halo interview was great - I've Tweeted a nice quote from her.

If I'd have read this issue and it wasn't near Xmas, it'd have been the Jandek - "The Song Of Morgan" 9CD. Nils Frahm compared him to me on the first self-released Foci's Left EP: "Wow, love it! The closest to Jandek I've ever heard!" (you can download that and the rest of the self-releases at http://www.focisleft.bandcamp.com) so I'm very interested to hear his solo piano music. It was in part compared to Erik Satie.

I don't have it yet. Should pick it up tonight Smile
I've been slacking on reading offline lately, but I read the David Dunn article last week. What did you think of it Jon? I thought it was totally compelling.

Really? I found the write-ups quite dull, although the Elizabeth Brown content is more interesting on a second read for the Theremin aspect.

My picks before getting to the columns...

Born Of Six - Svapiti (Important)
Jandek - The Song Of Morgan (Corwood Industries)
Dalglish - Niaw Ot Vile (PAN)
Josephine Foster - I'm A Dreamer (Fire)
Sharron Krauss - Pilgrim Chants And Pastoral Trails (Second Language)
Jeff Mills - The Jungle Planet (Axis)
Phil Niblock - Touch Five (Touch)
Jim O' Rourke - Steamroom 1-8 (Bandcamp)
The Stranger - Watching Dead Empires In Decay (Modern Love)
Mick Turner - Don't Tell The Driver (Drag City)

Siphoning through (any available) clips of these on YouTube and SoundCloud with Plug DJ this evening. Xyxthumbs

I was trying to think in the pub the other day what draws me to check something. But there's never anything definite. I guess with the Elizabeth Brown it was the theremin and Partch. With Basic House, probably something about noise and techno.

Yes to Jeff Mills, Dalglish, Jim O'Rourke, Phil Niblock.
The others.... not so much Wink

That Phil Niblock "Two Lips" track is grating in the extreme. Definitely one for the skip list. However the Rhodri Davis collaboration drone is lovingly penetrative. Lovesmilie
Dubmonger & LXC / LXC & The Untouchables in Steve Barker's review column Eek

Subverts in The Wire again!
I've done a Wire Chart of these for 2013 and blogged about it:
