For the trivia heads...A Mystery Band
all this talk of great bands seen, missed and what have you reminded me of the 2 Shellac shows at the Garage in London in 1993 or 4 i guess...supporting them was obviously Brick Layer Cake, but also another band comprising 2 guitarists and was there a drummer? can't recall - anyway - they played aluminium guitars, had ebows and wooly hats.. they were pretty damn good too. on the second show they were there also, but this time also comprised an expanded Brick Layer Cake lineup alongside Todd Trai

Attn: Statto or other Streetbeats Heads.
Looking for a golden oldie.

Today I found out that one of my favourite jungle tunes ever was released by the very fine Streetbeats. I don't know it's name but it's on Coldcut's "70 minutes of madness" mix set and it's listed as The Truper - Street Beats vol 2".

Any of you know where I might be able to get my grubby mitts on a vinyl copy of this classic?

Cheers for any help. Icon_exclaim

A Question For Old Skool HipHop Heads
to settle a pub dispute...what is the break used in 'The Message' by Grandmaster Flash & his Furious Five. the (from memory) ascending then descending synth line. my colleague insists it was a creation of the session for that record alone. i (based on nothing at all but a hunch of course) insist it's a break. who is right? and if i am what is that break?

cheers, ears
