How do you make your tunes? Hardware via a desk etc?

Or software?

pc running all sorts of software then i come out of cubase into my mixing desk..
so want to go from there onto a cd, or do i?

sorry i am lost at this stage to be honest
Assuming you have a full-duplex soundcard, you can just record it back into your PC as an audio file and then burn that to CD.

Just connect the outs of your desk to the in of your soundcard, turn down/turn off/mute the monitoring level of the input (to prevent feedback) and hit record. Your tune will play through and record it as it goes. Then you burn that file to CD.

Easy peasy.

Hold on - when you go the the mixing desk, how many channels are you using? You have a multi output soundcard?

Yeah ive got an echo gina soundcard with 8 digital ins/outs and extra line ins/outs.

see i have heard a few times that people record tracks to an external source, cd,dat, whatever because it sounds better and not flat as if its all been done in the pc. this may be bollox though!

but i should get the same results from recording directly back into cubae right?

depends on ad/da converters (analog to digital and vice versa) on the sound card and on the cd or dat. i don't remember off hand what the converters are like on ginas but i have the impression theyre good

so i wouldn't blow my money on a cd or dat!
What he/she said ^^^

The Gina is a good card man, if you can then record in at 24 bit then do any mastering and dither down to 16bits before going to CD.

But that might be too much fucking around for you at this stage.

Good luck!

I use the emu 1820m with my yamaha desk then to the tascam da30 mkII,

extrnal cd players are better than the pc burners only be cuase they burn slower and all the componats are top quality.

I'd say a hbb / denon or something like that
Yeah i talked to a lot of people before deciding on the gina and it is a very good card..

"But that might be too much fucking around for you at this stage""

to much fucking around is the only way to learn as i have no one to actually show me how..so fuck around i will :P :P

thanks for the comments, most helpfull

top attitude, and one that will get you far!

Xyxthumbs

on the pc burner versus outboard thing, in terms of the quality of components being used it's entirely down to the drives and outboard you're comparing. and on top of that, alot of outboard burners use cd-rom drives anyway for they're robustness anyway.
didn't mean to cause offense...............

but 24-bit recording is well worth it if you value the quiet bits f your tune as much as the loud bits Xyxthumbs

so get on it!

i expect to see a 'dither - wtf??' thread very soon Hahaha Icon_razz
