Heh... I don't want to laugh too hard, because it isn't that funny for you. HMV use STH, they're good at selling to chain stores (which would be good for you I guess), but their concern therefore is stuff that will sell to chain stores and to a larger market. I don't use ST at all now (and I'm not the only one), which is unfortunate as they release all the Paradox Music stuff... but I can't afford their "minimum order limit" shit.

There are names on your label Statto, and Fanu's music is v good. If ST don't like it, that's just fine. Try Load, I still use them.

I didn't read this far down... sorry Smile.

john doe Wrote:maybe even let people pre-order by paypal ?
and let urbandecay/beatgallery handle the logistics? (why try it yourself if there's other people doing it as a job)

Yeah, I'm in...

john doe Wrote:why not pre-ordering and then a time of exclusivity for those 2 smaller online shops and then later on let juno, chemical, redeye and the lot stock it too?

Let them beg for it... Seriously though, if it goes well, they'll want a piece of the action.

I don't mind bearing the risk as long as there are reasonable benefits (ie."buy our records here") and some kind of security (maybe a limited sale or return thing ?).

Cool,

thats what im saying nick mate, but im not the one making decisions on SC!

karbonkid Wrote:punkrock and hardcore shows always have a section where they put up diy distro stands...that's where you buy your punk/hc records....would be cool if that'd happen at dnb gigs too

i'm gunna take your brain to another dimension.

Wow...

What is the point in having this music on vinyl? is it to make money? or is it to get the music out there? or what? if it's to make money then pressing and all that stuff will be more difficult and you will definitely have to market the tunes and all that stuff, however if you just want the music out there, I don't see whats wrong with just pressing it, selling what you can and giving bits to a few top dog dj people and stuff like that.

maybe there's too many high expectations of the first SC release and what it's meant to achieve... music is timeless, but you still have to be careful when to put it out otherwise it will just get overlooked - thats the skill in releasing records I guess.

I dunno why people care so much about selling stuff in record shops though because that is so much effort for a streetteam to do - its easy for people to start stuff off in the streeteam and not finish it (as I know!), and its easy for people to say I will do this and I will do that, but I wouldn't count on that.

Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to playing SC001!

Best of luck in this.

UR-3000 Transition (vocals : The Mercenary)

There will come a time in your life...
when you will ask yourself a series of questions...
am I happy with who I am?
am I happy with the people around me?
am I happy with what I'm doing?
am I happy with the way my life is going?
do I have a life?
or am I just living?
Do not let these questions restrain or trouble you...
just point youself in the direction of your dreams...
find your strengh in the sound...
and make your transition...
Do not spend to much time thinking, and not enough doing...
did I try the hardest at any of my dreams?
did I purposly let others discourage me when I knew I could?
will I die, never knowing what I could have been or could have done?
Do not let these doubts restrain of trouble you...
just point yourself in the direction of your dreams...
find your strength in the sound, and make your transition...
There will be people who'd say: "you can't", but you will...
there will be people who'd say: "you don't mix this with that",
and you will say: "watch me"...
there will be people who'd say:
"play it safe, thats to risky",
and you will take that chance,
and have no fear...
you won't let these questions restrain or trouble you...
you will point yourself in the direction of your dreams...
you will find the srength in the sound...
and make your transition...
For those who know it's time to leave the house...
and go back to the field...
find your strength in the sound...
and make your transition...
Lets make d+b special for 2009!

Good points there, just get the music out to who ever wants i think. Spiral Tribe used to sell/give tunes to people at free party's n that back in the day and look at what they are worth now and how well loved they are ( slightly off topic but you know what i mean Lol )

so what's happened with this...

we've spent money on proper mastering
we're not skimping on the pressing either
the artists are sorted out already
we're pressing 300 3x12"
we're selling them at the absurd price of £10
and we still break even if we shift them all
