well.. he might be a bit of a crap dj

BUT

Grooverider - Mysteries Of Funk Icon_eek

what an amazing album, a must in any junglist collection

Where's Jack The Ripper = so god damn evil. bassline is f00kin awesome
Imagination (Parts 1&2) = amazing track, starts off creepy, then becomes dark and funky
Cybernetic Jazz = Icon_eek just.........great

infact all tracks are great in their own way.

i got this on limited edition box set vinyl, worth much?? (not that im gonna sell it)

Icon_question this maybe grooverider appreciation no.2....... maybe not..
I think this should be more about the engineer of the album

MR. OPTICAL

Album has Optical written all over it

Teef
Didn't like any of it... Baffled
ya mysteries of the funk is a well written and excellently engineered album, big up mr optical

Once Everything Drops To Point Zero, It All Starts Over Again
Does anyone remember listening to rider going on about that twop step + double bass trash that started coming out late 1997/98

Solid State - Which I actually rate quite highly

But he was trying to start some kinda of movement or somthing - I can't remember what the fuck he called it!!
i know someone in here has pics of the bin throwing incident. please post. i need to have a laugh. Cool
I have some tapes I will listen tonight he said this was the new jungle sound - afro funk - he called it

Afro funk - he pioneered the sound (lol)
who mentioned Solid State?

They were truly dreadful.....absolutely awful.

Some of the early stuff was bloody good - some of there stuff was complete cheese! Grin
Some of the solid state stuff was quite nice, mysteries of funk is baaad (c-funk, starbase 23 are a couple of favs) and although the man aint playin stuff i'm into nowadays i will ALWAYS respect him as a dj for those last sets at the bluenote.
we don't take kind on ppl liking grooverider around here..

altho i gotta add that 560 degrees and starbase 23 were Falcon
i actually liked this... Falcon
97 -98 was a good year for Grooverider and if the "shitty 2-step tunes" u are talkin about are the tech step tunes he was playin ..............please Icon_evil

no, this is Grooverider's album
the only Opticalish thing about it is the cleanliness of the production
but the sounds are not Optical at all
Yeah AO... not everything they did was bad (bad as in 'bad').

Ever heard "He Who Lives In Fear" ???

Or "Tuning" ???
"Where's Jack The Ripper" (Original) is amazing.

I remember I heard the man himself play it in Dublin before I even knew what it was ... that robotic, metallic sound that comes in every so often Lovesmilie

not a thing, no
big label, big pressing
it's limited only as in that all pressings are limited Wink
you wouldn't get more than a tenner for it at most

you need to stop being so defensive about your beloved "tech" tunes man. all you're doing is widening the rifts.

besides, 97-98 techstep is much loved around here Xyxthumbs Homerdrool
Great Album...seems to have been forgotten about by most hardly ever hear anyone talking about it or playing traks from it.

Theres a lot of variety on it but the album has the same vibe running through
it. Although Rider is supposed to have done nearly all the work by himself for this album it does sound very much like Optical.
I liked 98-99 techstep too Smile

it was when it got all Bad Company that I lost interest Neutral
