Chris Morris has started writing for my local paper, that could only explain the story on the cover this morning
'Punk Alert'
A recreation drug used by many to relax and unwind is being laced with heroin & crack. Smokers - some as young as 13 - are indulging in 'super skunk' believing it is a strong form of cannabis.
But the local organisation Bring Back Unity Into The Community believes dealers of this drug, also known as punk, are mixing cannabis with harder drugs such as ketamine, heroin, crack cocaine and even embalming fluid in a bit to make it more potent.
Larry Babalola of BUBIC, has warned that the effects of this new hybrid can be disastrous and could cause mental health problems.
He said: "Punk is really dangerous - people don't know what they are smoking."
"Kids as young as 13 are chosing skunk as they think it's safer than other drugs and will help them to relax, but with all the chemicals they put inside, it could have dire consequences."
"The drug is now a stimulant and can make them aggressive. It is also so powerful that these young people can't cope with it and could end up in hospital with mental problems before they know it"
Super skunk uses a strong cannabis weed - a widely available class C drug - as its main ingrediant
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Simpson, who is responsible for the intelligence and proactivity in Haringey, said: "Taking any illegal drug can be dangerous as you cannot be sure what you're getting. It might be something other than you think as substances can be cut with other materials to bulk them up. We have had siezures of strong cannabis - skunk - in Harringey"
even the Daily Mail is more well informed and less hysterical than that
