nah, it's a matter of sales. make them think that they're cool if they put in the effort, and they'll do it. you oughta have no problem, mr. radio play Teef

kidkut Wrote:Does it matter if its done well, if its still essentially 'a bit poo'

my post-drum and bass music career is built on music that straddles the line between 'really good' and 'poo'. just you wait.

Why thank you. It must be the influence of ross - qualifying every bristol tune he plays on powerfm with the words 'before they went shite'. Lol

does anyone else think that pic of shitmat with the cow-head on looks disturbingly like duffah?

again, it's a matter of putting in the hard work to understand it. you have to listen to 't-10' at least 20 times before the impact and meaning of it really start to sink in. see, the thing is, it's not drum and bass in the classic sense at all - it's postmodern, post-apocalyptic polka punk. to me, the 'meta' of drum and bass is that it's about evolution and forging new forms, and distorted minds have done it, for better or for worse. what the fuck is that shit?

i don't even know if i'm being serious or not. seeing 't-10' in a john peel playlist kinda sent me for a loop
artists i just dont "get" the hype as of the last year or two.

Ram Records
Generation dub, SS, twisted ind. et al.
Baron
Chase and Status (xcept that one liquid soul tune)
the already mentioned Full Cycle crew.
Dillinja and Lemon D's labels
J-Magic and Wickaman, et al.

But i think there has been a real stagnation in this style of music (harder dancefloor style) so the diehard heads dont have much to choose from. Its understandable why this stuff is still purchased.

i didn't mind t-10 when it came out. fun on the dancefloor ... whatever. but it didn't need to be repeated ever and thats all they tried to do and tons of others. thats the real crime. so agreed, ...they have been shite.
My problem is I usually don't listen to the poeople I KNOW are putting out crap. Like when I see Twisted Individual...I just don't even listen to the clips. I mean sometimes I do, but just to see how bad it really is and laugh about it with friends. But Twisted Individual and Pendulum prolly are my top two.

Besides the obvious dissapointments from RoniSize, Dillinja, Lemon D, and.........so forth. These guys were making great music in the mid to late 90's. But, that's a whole other issue.

A bit off topic but where's Decoder been????
god i havent listened to any of that crap for the last 4-5 years...but that new roni size did wonders in increasing the depth of badness (not in a good way) a tune can really be....

nah man, i totally agree! when i first heard that tune out loud i was like "jesus christ, if i attempt to think of this as what i know as drum'n'bass i'll start leaking brain out of my nipples"... so it just got me thinking, removed from all context, hearing it 15 years from now without the bad taste in my mouth from everything else, it's objectively some weird-ass clunky electronic robot music that happened to bizarrely move thousands of people on dancefloors in the past. it's different from the new roni size tune where roni size just sounds sorry and pathetic, "t-10" in comparison seem shamelessly and intentionally dunderheaded... that's good for something, i think. not drum'n'bass, but something!!!

does Ray Keith still get releases out? i always used to buy his tunes and then realize 30 seconds after coming home each time that the poor guy was probably mentally retarded.

there's some hilarious hate on this forum lately, holy shit... haha.

hey twat-heap/deputy-shitmuncher-general (this forum speak is getting addictive), you're inconsistent and you know it!!!! now that you're back on the net, go finish the jazz talk that we replied to during your I Officially Hate The Internet For This Fiscal Quarter phase.
sileni Wrote:you're inconsistent and you know it!!!!

yeah, i'm learning to celebrate it Cool

that being said, it's useless to try to justify any of my opinions, because i never stay pinned down to them for long enough to fit them into a coherent whole. so no jazz talk ever again dammit. it sucks and i don't like it and that's the end :P

i used to be fun on the internet and a bore in real life. now i'm fun in real life and a bore on the internet. i hope we hang out again sometime!
beckett Wrote:who are the WORST producers that got/get regular releases?

well?

some producer or other out of the hundreds I never listen to
ah, you know who they are, the cartel/whoever kisses ass and it shows on the vinyl/dubplate, and stupid avatar doa people... i think a lot of people who made great drum and bass were right to got the fuck out before going placebo and mass-producing shit and everybody who's left getting the releases are 99%anal coke residue.

woo, you can almost smell how much i give a shit about 'dnb' right now??
