Psychology Massive - Books?

5 Replies, 2257 Views

I'm really interested into dipping into a bit of psychology, but I'm not sure where to start. I was thinking of going for one of the big names like Freud or Jung. The thing is they've all written so many books its hard to know where to start.

So could anyone give me some advice on whats worth reading? Are there any classic books which would give a good introduction?

Thanks! Smile
I know it sounds a bit schooly but I think that a nice start would be to get an intro boook that quotes a lot of the famous guys and expains some modern thought too, not sure which exactly since i never studied it, but i thik that it would be a good summary of the subject, while at the same time allowing you to pursue all the masterminds at your leisure. the girlfriend is finishing off her degree this year so i've had a fair bit of exposure to it, from what i've heard and read jung would be the best to start with, although getting a book with the major guys and their ideas and seeing which one you like the best is a good idea too. freud from what i can tell blames everything on children wanting to have sex with their parents, and even recommends that children be exposed to seeing their parents have sex Eek
