I have a Roland D50 (old yoke c.1987) but I'm after losing the power supply for it. I've tried using other 12V adaptors but the LCD comes up blank.

Can anyone tell me if I have to go and fork out for some 'real' Roland power supply or is there a way of circumventing this?

Many thanks,

The GM

P.S. Blue & Strike. I had to rip out the old soundcard and replace it. It was obviously made by the same people who made my bike.

I lost the power supply to my Kawai K4 (old yoke c.1990) Mrgreen and had the same problem. I even e-mailed Kawai and never got a response. Somehow I lucked out and found an Ibanez 12V lying about and decided to give it a try. It fit perfectly and powers the synth beautifully. My main problem was finding 12V adaptors that actually fit the plug correctly in the back of the synth. I used a Kawai K1 supply that I got from a music shop for $5 cause it's all they had. It would power the synth but it never fit correctly. I had to always tape it in so the power would stay on. One minor yank of the cord and the power would go out. It fookin sucked. Now I have no problems at all so I believe you don't need to use a Roland supply as long as you can find one that fits and powers it correctly.
