Correct! Which, in a way, is what dionysus is saying (although his was a bit of a guess, I suspect ).
That is, you change the rate at which very similar pitches go in and out of phase by changing (with the lfo) the pitch of one or both of them. This gives you some proper warbley wobble Are we learning yet? Titanium's incorrect answer is still a good thing in the context of this thread though. Question; what would doing titanium's suggestion - varying the volume of a detuned oscillator with an lfo - do to the sound? If you can answer that, then we have already - without even leaving the oscialltor section of our imaginary synth - discovered two useful ways change the sound. FWIW, the best way I've found of getting my head around how to get what I want out of a synth is to start from a pure sine patch and experiment with the components one at a time. So for instance, see what a range of things you can do just layering and detuning the oscillators with everything else turned off, then maybe introduce a filter, FM, effects, whatever, one thing at a time. Starting from the complex presets and tweaking still leaves me thinking "but how does it do that?"
I took to that end method you mentioned Slothrop at the weekend. Reverse-engineering (so to speak) sounds on Surge and started to learn more than starting at the beginning.
Horses for courses though. It would change the intensity of the resonant beating, amirite?
Correct! So now we have another useful way of modulating our sound
We'll get on to more asap Don Cherry Wrote:Every human is blessed in her or his life with one love (passion), no matter how long it may last.
