THROBBING GRISTLE

I like Gen as a person, but they were the least talented member of TG musically. I've never thought PTV were any good, and that track doesn't change my opinion at all. But thanks anyway Wink

Fauxpas
^^ that's some honesty. heh.

i like the album cover. its very b-movie, 70's cult documentary type imagery lol. Genesis seemingly floating in bare feet lol.

Fauxpas
I heard Billy Idol "Dancing with Myself" in the car just minutes ago, and I immediately tried to start a conversation detailing the Nardwuar / Genesis P.O  interview  ^^ above where Nardwaur asks if Genesis "... audition Billy Idol?   Genesis is RESPONSIBLE for Billy Idol??!!"  lol.

It is hard to try to explain randomly to somebody who Gristle, Psychic TV, Genesis, et all, are.. there are still sects of people who have NO clue, nor interest I guess.  Hence my failed conversation on the topic.    ha. Baffled

Just some thoughts as I get back in for the night.   Teef
I have "Heathen Earth" on Mp3, but nothing else. That was enough for me. Post-punk or rather post-noise in a staticky ambient quadrant that was part delta waves, part smudged promise. To be honest i never really saw the hype. Totally different types of music, but musically, Pink Floyd trounced 'em.
I liked Heathen Earth at the time, but now... it's them getting past their best and pretending to be a rock band. 2nd Annual Report and DOA are a lot better.
RIP Genesis Breyer P-Orridge Lighter

Yes, they could be a complete arsehole by many accounts, but still... an important one, both as regards music (TG anyway; I thought Psychic TV were shit) and, even more (imo), their explorations of gender.

Freaks are important.  The ideas were more interesting than the product, product is just the "vessel" as they say.  There's a generation of freaks that are dwindling from the similar time, and yes, much subculture has resulted in the wake of.  For that I give praise.

Freaks.

Are everything.

r.i.p and all that.     Cheers
