they did stuff under loads of aliases, like mental cube, stakker, yage, amorphous androgynous etc, not sure which one that'd be though....prob either mental cube or yage i'd say - a lot of the stuff they (and others) put out on jumpin' & pumpin' was released around the hardcore era.

ps simply typing this has guaranteed the constant repeat of 'we have explosive' here tonight Xyxthumbs

some of their work off ISDN, Lifeforms and Dead Cities is crying out for quality dnb and dubstep remixes.

i think the only dnb remix of them was by Leon Mar on We Have Explosive.

Smoking Japanese Babe is outstanding in every way.
I loved this album when it came out, I still got the black carboard velcro release CD, always loved the track "Egypt" - minimal vibes Cool

apparently they slapped that track together just to please the record label who wanted something resembling a hit single.
hovver Wrote:statto, if you wanna make lifeforms less 'bland' (???), try listening on acid - my best mate actually ended up having recurring flashbacks of armageddon - in inverted black and white, no less, nice touch - after listening to 'vertical pig' far too much whilst err, dabbling... (prob the last thing in the world i'd consider doing these days, but was a laugh back then :d)

yeah - it was 'the tingler' under the mental cube alias.
The tingler is a baaad tune. as is the mental project Q tune, lovely stuff. The smart systems remix of humanoid, in fact all mixes of humanoid. Remember watching that on the chart show with all the 80s graphics, so futuristic sounding. The Papua remixes were nice too from the reissued accelerator. loads of great tunes on that too IMO.

ISDN is about the only one ive not got, except the really rare stuff.

Humanoid boo boo booooo!
I "saw" them play "live" via ISDN in the 90s. Kinda weird really, live from their studio to us in a field...

They have done some amazing stuff though.... humanoid blew my mind at the time and tbh it still kinda does now, it's that awesome. Q is another one, i love that track.

Didn't know they'd got into psychedelic / space rock of late. That's brilliant.

Hahaha yeah, it always had 'top ten' written all over it haha still a favourite at weddings, too
anyone heard their archives and Experiments releases? They're available on FSOLdigital.com.

I heard the first archive and it was quality. Pure ISDN/Dead Cities vibe.

They also came out with an album last year under their YAGE guise that appears to be more electronic than their Amorphous psyche stuff.

btw, if you haven't heard TALES OF EPHIDRENA from the early 90s then do yourself a favour and check it. Maybe their best album.

I tried listening to the 2019 FSOL "Yage" lp last night.

I got bored 9 mins in.  I'll get around to listen to the whole thing, but I don't do drugs nor smoke weed anymore, so typical, ambientronica is no longer trippy, novel, nor enticing anymore for that fact maaaaaaaaaaan.  Meh, been there done that.

If i want to trip out sober, I'll geek out to doom metal  - atmos & ambient effect is more direct there.  Smile

Still..  I like the art work.
