Jazzy Jungle/Drum and Bass - Loads of ambient, atmospheric grooves. Wonderful music.

The PHD tune - Reminiscent grooves (never heard it before) SICK!

The whole mix is lovely so had to post it here.

Big up mr blick for the mix
a link to DOA on here?

Ikky!
some nice tunes though Smile
the original post went something like this,

just before doa broke i was going back through some old threads that i'd posted in and came across this thread - "best saxophone dnb tune of all time" - http://www.dogsonacid.com/showthread.php...hlight=sax - and reading back through it i realised i had quite a few of the tracks mentioned and decided i'd do a mix of them one day.

well i got it done quicker than i thought and here it is Lovesmilie

just a couple of things (not for the tl/dr massive)

i was going to write that i was a little bit tipsy when i made this mix but the truth of the matter is i was pissed. originally it was only meant to be 80 mins long to fit on a cd but it ended up a bit longer than that (i obviously had my bottle of wine to finish)

i don't think my drinking had any influence on this mix/my mixing as i make the same and just as many mistakes as when i'm sober Teef no trainwrecks but a few nudges here and there.

as soon as i decided that i was going to do this mix i knew which track i was going to start with. i love "00:00 - masterjon - seachange - ultimate dilemma - 1996" and have wanted to put it in a mix for ages.

another and probably one of my fave jazzy drum & bass tracks is "32:50 - the architex - somewhere - basement records - 1996" this for me is brilliant Slayer Slayer Slayer

another favourite of mine and quite a few other people (hi robert graff haste & bsjnr1) is "19:50 - a touch of jazz - respected but not accepted - precious materials - 1995" this is a lovely piece of work Lovesmilie

there is, as in the original thread lots of "intense" in this mix simply because they are one of the masters of sax and bass the other being "sci-clone".

i could write something about each track in this mix because they are all great but i wont.

as you can see this is only part 1 if one of the tracks you like isnt on this mix it might be on a future one. t power "mutant jazz" & sci-clone "everywhere i go" are definites.

there will eventually be another 2 of these and as in the original thread not strictly confined to the sax but including horns flutes and other stuff.

hope you like :smil:

might as well edit this while i have the chance,

back for another round and what a lovely collection of tunes we have here.

this selection has a slightly more jungle edge to it than the last one and judgeing by what ive got lined up for the third part i would say that that one might be the jazziest of them all.

but lets do this one first.

mindgames, natural progression and mutant jazz were all mentioned in the original "sax" thread that inspired these mixes so i know that they will be appreciated by quite a few of you. the rest are tracks i love that i thought complimented the original idear.

as usual i could post something about every single track in this mix but i'll just pick out a couple that i think deserve a mention (i don't want to bore you).

08:49 - a-sides - illusions (exclusive dub plate remix) - strictly hardcore - 1995 - can't tell you how much i love this track. as far as i know this version is only avaliable on a strictly hardcore compilation lp but is a track that never gets old for me. wind instrument wise this hasnt got a lot to do with the original concept but i just couldnt leave it out.

14:48 - breeze - field of dreams - moving shadow - 1996 - should have been mentioned in the original thread, lovely track.

27:00 - 4-mat-4 - cult view (blame remix) - precious materials - 1997 - a recent purchase and well worth it. there is a much jazzier version on this double 12" but i like this one more and i love the mix with this into the "dominion" track.

speaking of which. 32:26 - the dominion - feel good (dub plate) - strictly hardcore - 1995 - & - 64:48 - jazz vibes - sax - strictly hardcore - 1995 are another two tracks from strictly hardcore various artist lp's it might explain why some if not all of them are so sought after nowadays. they did do these complilation albums very well. these are two of my faves from thier intelligent/dub plate series.

well i've bored you enough now so ihope you enjoy the mix and hope to get the third one done next week.

just one more thing. i did this mix sober, spot the difference

and again,

right here we go again.

this mix dosnt contain as many of the tunes or artists that people have been requesting from some posts in the other parts that i posted up. i promise i will try and get some of them in on any future mixes.

what is in this mix though are quite a few of the tracks mentioned in the original thread including "sci-clone - everywhere i go (remix)" which i think had the most mentions in the whole thread and rightly so.

"phd - haze", "ltj bukem - watercolours" and "voyager - beatnik" were also mentioned as well as "regez - a freedom funk" by someone called reguez (hi mate i'll get around to what you asked for in the next coupls of days, sorry it's taking so long)

another little goodie on this mix is "tight control - sax lick 1" which is actually a-sides so i'd imagine the sax is played by nathan haines although it dosnt mention that anywhere. does anyone know ?

and a final mention for the blu mar ten track "she moves through" which is a favourite of mine from them.

actually managed to get this one to under 80 mins so it would fit on a cd this time.

enjoy

big in the game!
blick Wrote:47:06 - voyager - beatnik - good looking records - 1998

just when i was getting bored at the beat going on and on and on, beatnik came in and the snare hits keep shifting and it makes all the difference in the world
