We will discover that sh/t Grin !!!

As you maybe now, I wont give up.

Check this link please, everything is from a well known break, except the kick...
And honestly, this kick is sh*t...

Could you recommend me a good kick pack (for exs Grin).

And NO, I did not discover the break, just did not finish any tune in this year...I spend all of my studio time to design my own photek break, recreate it etc.
So this one is a well known break, but you wont believe if I tell you which one...

Lot of eqing, compressing, sequencing, etc...lot of work...

Just that damn kick Icon_sad

i could really like your break if the dominant snare was less scratchy/distorted. Smile maybe try tightening the envelop on the kick and pulling it down in volume a tad. the kick is a bit synthetic feeling, what about replacing the 200 hz and lower range with kicks from old sweat or alligator boogaloo?
Reply

The snare will stay, cause I really do not have the original one GrinGrinGrin

The kick is synthetic yes, but will take a look in my library Grin
Reply

wasn't saying the snare needed to go. just eq a tad or take off the distortion. that's all i meant Wink
otherwise, get to making something with that sweetness Xyxthumbs

That is what I mean under I do no have the original Grin
I started tweaking this break 3-4 months ago :S
In case I really dont know what have I done on it GrinGrinGrin
Anyway, Ive a cleaner version, and put it with a cleaner channel strip in logic, and found a nice kick on Soniccouture's Konkrete pack.
Ive add recently a stereo tremolo, with a very small dry/wet %, and just on the higher part of the break...and now its soooooooooo bright and "open" Grin
Hahm...

go back to the studio, clean the dust from my k-station, and tweak some bass...and back to my friends dusty old attics to find more jazz piano stuffs Grin

DNA & Rings sample the same break. You can hear the popping around the "stick" hit in both songs. Listen to Rings Around Saturn on 33 and you'll notice it.

sooooo....
does sound alot like that Five Stairsteps, but
has them sticks, which sounds a lot like
which samples
or less likely
but you'll need to slang
so you can do
which has been done already.

Grin

Could be Five Stairsteps, Sesame Street, Life Could, Been Had, The Worm, Back In The USSR, or something else. I can't even rule out Jabo, but I really, really think Photek had the tendency to chop a snare from one song, a high-hat from another, etc etc.

you could make a pretty extensive kit with all those similar snares. I'm just saying...

besides...

Yes, you can make your own photek break, but in case the break what we searching for is one lopp from a record Icon_sad

i think you missed my point. I'm saying photek may have made his own break. like chopping a snare out of 1 break that sounds like funky drummer, a kick from another and so on.

this might be a better explanation of what I was getting at, from the man himself. he even shows how and what he interpolates.

however
if they sample the same thing, there's definitely elements in each song that's aren't in the other.

I see.

I think I know what you mean. It is possible to add some extra hits from other break, but the snare the kick the hihats, is from one breakbeat loop. (Read back a few pages or just check the tune called DustBall from Fracture, the ONE who knows the source of that breakbeat...I believe him Grin)

Anyway, of course its possible to recreate it, check the sample what Ive linked above.

Sick breaks at all Grin

No, that's what this whole thread is about. It's said to be one single break Smile

This is also one single break. It's Can We Rap. Sounds the same everywhere it's being used Wink

Also imo The Number Song definitely uses Fire Eater, not that other Sapo song.

Btw, Fire Eater might be a good starting point to create "the Photek break", snaper Grin At least there's this distinct almost backwards sounding ghost snare in it somewhere...

I've got my own photek breaks, YES, I've recreated almost 100% the "clangy one" from rigns around saturn, and ufo. Trust me, its not based on that break what Fracture discoverd. Just slow it down (from smoke rings), you will realize that its from Lyn Collins. Just check the tamb sounds.

Then load up your copy of the think break, and play with freq/pitch shift, and timstreetch...

trust me Grin

I've spend this whole year for that break...and now? I didnt finish any tunes in this year...and the most funniest thing in this case, in the tune what im working on, Im using an old break from my old funk sampled library, with a bloody 606 snare on it GrinGrinGrin

I am looking forward to hearing your crime rhodes photek inspired tune... seems like you have a clear idea what you are after...

I sort of gave up on searching for this break a while ago, hell, I probably wouldn't use it in a track anyways. There's not much sense in recreating something another bloke did 14 years ago Wink

Lol I really wanna trust you (I do!), but I can hardly believe it's the Think break... If so, there's FAR more being done than simple timestretching/pitchshifting. The kickdrum actually has that certain ring to it.

What about posting the snare of your Photek break? I'd really like to hear if they're really (almost) identical Xyxthumbs

Im just boring with dark themes, and last month I discovered that I already have a lot of synths in here Grin
Now Im working on an old skool good looking like stuff...but how knows...maybe I cant finish that too...maybe I should give up producing for while and play PS2 all day long GrinGrinGrin
