that photek break

thought there was a suspiciously low number of vowels Hahaha
Im afraid that this break is on my HD right now, I just dont know...and thats why I going to be crazy...
Cause Ive got a lot of classical break samples (From the Doubleclick packs to All The breaks, and hundreds of self sampled classic stuffs, the whole strictly breaks, ultimate breaks and beats blabla, everything...) so if this is sooooo obvious, I have to own it :S
Okay.

What is the mystery of this break?
1. the source, because its obvious but hard to recognize...
2. and the method of resequencing, which isnt so hard. Lets take a look inside of that sequence. (Example the main break in Smoke Rings)

x=kick
h=hihat
s=snare
g=ghost snare
r=rimshot

soooo

xhsxhsghhr

look a little closer
(_=silence, ®=reversed)

xh_sxh_sgh®hr_

So this the key, and you can resequence all of the breaks in this way, but would be sounds the same without those mettalic sounding snares :S
Okay guys, Im out.
I have devoted so much time to this investigation unnecessarily and still no results.
Im still interested about the source, but I have no time to continue this whole stuff...
Hugs
Okay...
Arghm...
Well, in case I cant give up man Grin I dont know why, I just CANT!
And...

..THANKS FOR GOD, TO DONT LET ME GIVE UP THIS, BECAUSE I HAVE SOLVE THE PUZZLE!!!
(.: the puzzle of the processed smoke rings break :.)

So.
I wont be rude, so if Mr. DJ Fracture let it, I will tell you everything.

PS.: Dave, its really soooooooo foooookin' obvoius!!!
congrats?

In case, in the tune called, Smoke Rings are 2 unknown break.
I solve only one of them. (The well processed one, you know...)
Its fookin obvious, and the key was the re-sequencing...

seriously... Applause snaper!
Unfortunately I found just a layer.
So there is that secret break, with THINK break on it (in smoke rings)
Check it when you slowed down the original photek tune.

Damn, I think I was almost there...

Both.
But the problem is, that when I try to recreate it from my think breaks, I cant, cause I need that SNARE sound from the other unknown break, what Fracture used in DustBall.
I don't hear no Think break in there No

Also tried and failed with:

Rotary Connection - Life Could
Blowfly - Sesame Street
a lot of Meters' tunes (since the snare sounds metallic)
Vibrettes - Humpty Dump (closest so far) - the ghostnotes sound similar and the overall sound too.

...

Also I don't believe it's a layer. It's one break (at least the metallic one, you're raving about...) - another thing is:

where are all the other Photek breaks from?

- Conciousness
- Hidden Camera
- KJZ

They're all really special in a way.

i seem to remember reading at the time that the kjz breaks were from kirk degiorgio

not off a track, but straight from kirk

Hm...
Im 100% sure that in Smoke Rings, Photek used the Think break as a layer. (Just slow down and check the tamb sounds!)
By the way, Ive tried a lot of different breaks, like you, and the best results came from the Life Could / Panther break, but it just dont have those ghost snares.
Youve right! Its one "obvious" break.
I think the tune, where it sampled from, started with this break, and the break cant sampled as a full bar loop and it ended with some crazy ghost snare.

The breaks what you looking for :
- Conciousness (think, plastic jam, and i think the unknown one...)
- Hidden Camera (lot of one shots, I think, and in the dnb remix are snare sounds from aaa...man cant remember the name of it...aha!, Dynamic 7-Squeeze Me)
- KJZ (I heard there are a lot of Buddy Rich stuffs sampled.)

By the way, I think Im very close, and need only one little clue to get that break...
(Dave sad, its obvious, so Ive checked the AllTheBreaks disc, and the Doubleclick packs, but its not there...)
So Im sitll looking for it, but a correct release year, or a label name would be very helpful. I hope after DustBall came out, Fracture will tell us some more information about this...
The breaks Ive checked (in case I checked all of my break samples, but Ive take a closer look to these) :

Bobby Byrd - I Know You Got Soul
Cold Blood - Kissing My Love
Cold Grits - Its Not Your Thing
All Dyke And The Blazers stuffs
All Denis Coffey stuffs
Funk Ins - Kool Is Back
Georgie Famme - Music Talk
Harlem Underground Band - Sweet Cheeba Cheeba (almost...)
James Bell and The Turner Bros - The Funnky...
almost all James Brown stuffs
Koll and The Gang - full discography
Lightin' Rod - Sport
Love - Doggone
Lyn Collins - Think
Marva Whitney - Unwind Yourself
Nat Adderley - New Orleans
Salt - Hang Up
Showmen - The Tramp
Honeydrippers - Impeach The President
The Nu People - Id Be Nowhere Without You
Titanic - Something On My Mind
Village Crusaders - Akiwawa

oh, and the full Miles Davis discography...
Check this out with +5 pitch!

Its one of the breaks from the Photek mix cd for Knowledge mag. (Break by Paradoy, but I dont know the source, but the pitched up version is very similar to the snare of the source of THAT BREAK, but no ghost snares...) Icon_sad
