Not an especially great rest of the tune (although it's fine), but I do like the build-up to this. It has a real sense of occasion.
one of the baddest tunes EVER!!!!!

way ahead of its time when released

in my top ten of all time for dnb no doubt

peace

Alot of people still say they never rated this...

having just heard it again in Poland at the weekend on a good system, I have to say it does it for me ! The b-line bit every 4 bars or so in after the main drop is digusting ...

on a semi decent system it will blow you away
i remember the first time i heard it at the end way way way back.

Remember Adam F's live set from 2001-ish. Metropolis was an intro to his set. Wicked-wicked-wicked!
Easily the best thing he did for me, because I'm not aware he did much else Statto. Please inform me if I'm wrong. I have the album it's from on CD, and it's rather exquisitely put together, but none of the tunes grab me like Metropolis.

Then there's Circles, but I don't like that.

the album is mostly just a collection of singles
Metropolis was originally out on Metalheadz
which you already know surely? Eek
badness end of..

Yeah, I nearly got it off Ebay before the repress for a decent price of 3 quid (so about 5.50 including delivery), but in a rare moment of reservation when it comes to records, I thought I'd be happy with my CD version.

Great tune for sure Smile

I'm a fan of his early lucky spin stuff, such as Eclipse, Whiplash, Sea of destiny and Lightyears..

Proper tunage Cool
I'm talking cobblers a bit because I remembered a record I have with 'Just a Dream' on it. I did a flukely wicked mix with the melody of that and the beatless track 'Visions' by Fracture & Neptune on my radio show.
i also really like the doc scott vip of it whcih is sicko.

i will agree with statto..its the best thing he ever has done imho

are you sure he didnt start his set with "metrosound" in 2001...he released that back around thast time which was a kinda 2000 mish mash of mtropolis and j majiks' your sound.

he often opened with that tune at that time plus all the nonsensical "old spice" advert music...cant remember what its called in reality

anyhoo..bad bad bad tune.
i drop it every time i play an old skool set

peace
fuck man...check aromatherapy on the cd..track 11 ;-)

completely different vibe...smashes circles to pieces.

also "jaxxx"..that tune is just utterly SICK

u need to listen to that album again me thinks matey..there are sum wicked tunes on it

+1 to that.

I remember being at some rave in Seven Sisters, Jungle Fever I think, and Rider dropped Metropolis. I'd heard it a few times at the Blue Note so me and Sumo went mental but the rest of the crowd were cheesey jungle heads and just stood still looking at us. Pretty awkward moment - think I was the only white guy there apart from the guy who ran Kool FM who was putting on the night (can't remember his name). Disappeared back into the crowd after that!
Statto, I think you have that mix. Smile
Statto Wrote:best thing he ever did

Yes

No
wonderful tune, might have to go dig this out as well Xyxthumbs
i was always more into jaxx but then later liked metropolis more
Good tune but never did it for me to the levels it did for some others.

Prefer the Doc Scott remix.
Dancefloor drum and bass at its utter peak.

It does stupid things to me, the genius of not letting the main bass hit until 8 bars after the drop etc

Its perfect, I know half the people on here dont hit clubs anymore or never did, but I got into D&B through the dark funk of 1998 and 1999, and its what attracted me to D&B.
The energy, the bass, brocking the fuck out
