yes indeed
really like the stuff ive just checked out on the tube Smile

"the world is our__"
"threads"
No way, I think they are really generic and mediocre, indistinguishable from countless other current post-rock bands. That genre is as rinsed out as dnb :P
probably not the most original in their genre, i agree.

but i do like the music they make anyway Smile

should dig deeper i suppose then, any suggestions where to put my shovel next?
If you're searching for something in the vein of TWDY I'm probably the wrong person to ask Wink
What other postrock-ish bands do you like?
pretty much the usual: mogwai, explosions in the sky and god is an astronaut come to my mind first. also i like the recent stuff by envy, kinda mixes hardcore and post rock in the same package.

did see a silver mt zion live also and that was just amazing, the recorded material doesn't do it for me for some reason though.

could also just go thru similar artists on last.fm and see what sounds good i guess Smile

the post-rock radio there seems to offer mostly bands with long "artsy" names and song titles and they mostly sound the same :P
I thought This Will Destroy you were a bit unoriginal at first, but after a few listens I changed my mind. I think they've got a more subtle approach than their peers in the same genre. That whole genre is dominated by wannabees who build every track up to a cresendo and bore you to tears after 2 tunes; whereas TWDY seem to be more subtle and interested in the harmonics of feedback. The Mighty Rio Grande is my favourite tune, but I also like Quiet from the Young Mountain EP.

They did a split EP with Lymbyc System which is great. The best track on it is Lymbyc's though. Those Lymbyc Systym guys are well worth checking out. Kinda jazz- electronica influenced post rock - a bit like Jaga's "What we Must" record.

I also discovered a band with a dreadful name: up-c down-c left-c right-c + start (apparently a mortal kombat cheat code). But they made an album called Embers which is like explosions in the sky meets black sabbath. not the most original but a splendid album nonetheless.

The best post-rock I've heard all year is Remember Remember though. top class.

I also recommend most things by Do Make Say Think, especially "You, you're a history in Rust". One of my fave albums of the last 10 years.
Just got pointed at this. Like others, sceptical at first but I'm quite impressed and want to hear more.
actually this will destroy you

I must not fear... because fear is the mind killer... Oh god I'd rather feel my hand burning than listen to this.
