the track "a three legged work horse" is truely gorgeous btw.
No way, I think they are really generic and mediocre, indistinguishable from countless other current post-rock bands. That genre is as rinsed out as dnb :P
I thought This Will Destroy you were a bit unoriginal at first, but after a few listens I changed my mind. I think they've got a more subtle approach than their peers in the same genre. That whole genre is dominated by wannabees who build every track up to a cresendo and bore you to tears after 2 tunes; whereas TWDY seem to be more subtle and interested in the harmonics of feedback. The Mighty Rio Grande is my favourite tune, but I also like Quiet from the Young Mountain EP.
They did a split EP with Lymbyc System which is great. The best track on it is Lymbyc's though. Those Lymbyc Systym guys are well worth checking out. Kinda jazz- electronica influenced post rock - a bit like Jaga's "What we Must" record.
I also discovered a band with a dreadful name: up-c down-c left-c right-c + start (apparently a mortal kombat cheat code). But they made an album called Embers which is like explosions in the sky meets black sabbath. not the most original but a splendid album nonetheless.
The best post-rock I've heard all year is Remember Remember though. top class.
I also recommend most things by Do Make Say Think, especially "You, you're a history in Rust". One of my fave albums of the last 10 years.
Just got pointed at this. Like others, sceptical at first but I'm quite impressed and want to hear more.
