Small mixing desks ideas

Finally found the powerpack for my Spirit Folio F1 14/2 mixer and it's definitely far too big for my tiny bedroom studio. Not tested the sound yet but as i've mentioned before on here, the quality is a bit brittle from memory.

I'm after a desktop mixing desk, only really need to take 3 or 4 devices and a microphone.

Anyone got anything of noteworthy value? The tiny Tapco Mix series are rated ok for their price, but I don't want to be too tight with cash on this one.
Got one of those little Tapco Mix 120 (12 in) mixers that i use for the live stuff - basically sub-mix my Juno 6, Casio CZ-3000 and a Boss sampler through it, so we only usually need a single pair of DI's at gigs, plus it also gives me some degree of control over the level as the 'sound bloke' usually doesn't have a clue Hahaha

Had it for a few years and serves the purpose well, esp considering it was only about £50 or whatever. Hard wearing little thing too, mostly made of industrial looking metal, and is only about 10'' x 10'' Xyxthumbs

Not sure how well it fares noise wise, but to me it seems no more or less noisy than most huge/tiny analogue desks i've heard before...
the macckie onyx series are good, nice clean preamps plus firewire option so that you actually mix on the desk
GrEat idea but nearly £400 for the smallest one is way out of my budget. £200 tops, hence looking at the Tapcos.

Maff any chance you could do a man a favour & test it in a studio env? Like to know what the qual & noise is like.

was gonna suggest

but at £ 349.00 that is a bit steep as well..

Hi Matt.... Err, i'm prob not the best person to ask about stuff like that mate, I quite like a bit of noise and dirt from time to time so half the time I don't even notice it, or would really be able to tell you if it was better or worse than the average competing product Oops (just ask Mr.Eschaton about my 'hiss-breaks' Hahaha)

Prob easier if you just borrowed it or had a mess about on it for a bit, but then you're all the way 'dahn there, intcha'? Well, the offer stands anyway - and you're welcome round for a brew anytime btw, as long as you don't eye up my sheeps clart No
Thanks for the offer, although worried it's just a ploy to send me some welsh paraphernalia at the same time. We all know your fave Wink

Probably more hassle than it's worth. I reckon around the cheapo price I'm looking I'll get noise, hiss, shit EQ and all sorts. Like you, might be good overall. Xyxthumbs

Thanks anyway people. Reckon it's 6 of 1, half a dozen (sheep from Maff) of the other.
Hahaha

Nah, honestly, the desk's not that bad at all mate, esp at that price - sums your stuff together in a very small space.

Are you just monitoring your stuff through it or recording?
id have thought any modern mixer would be quiet and clean tbh...

just not going to get any 'vintage' 'warmth' or 'vibes' off them

Smile

Both really. But all depends. Will come into action for live work as well evetually / hopefully.

'Thanks' 'PDX' Xyxthumbs Wink Agreed and wasn't looking for SSL type sound just low noise really.

shut the fuck up for a bit then Twothumbs
Don't lower yourself down further Maff. You're almost at the bottom.
