cubase changing bitrate

when i listen for samples or another tune in winamp or anything else the bitrate in cubase changes from 44k to 48k even tho i have the project set to 44k, not a big problem but a pain in the ass as i've gotta change it back every time. anyone else come across this and know how to stop it from switching?

go to project setup and change the sample rate to whatever it is u want, it should then store that for any new projects you start.. either that or it could possibly be something to do with your soundcard settings?

that's what i have to do to change it back when it changes.
i think my sound card setting should be ok but i'll have to double check that.
