the ax73 is really nice, might have to search out one if I cannot get a Poly800 or a DW6000...

ok, no secret sources then Lol

aye, its pretty nice, some phat bass when you layer all 6 oscillators. some niceish chord too, not as nice as the roland stuff tho but 1/3 price...

ah but it is unique
no secret sources - just a lot of browsing, though I do occasionally take a punt on spares and repairs.
cool. likewise. although im now broke again.

not really relevant, but not worth starting another thread;

just scored one of these on ebay for £150, absolute bargain, theyre £220 new, if you can get one, but only about 50-100 made, and none for the forseeable future. rare as rocking horse doo doo as they say. Been after one for ages and one for £150 is a f'in steal!

amazing

nice - haven't the £££ to get into outboard effects. Tape delays and vintage compressors cost serious money. Donations accepted.

Currently lining up a Korg Prophecy (v. excited about this) and a rare Abstract Data Kicker for some ridiculous sub action.
its all about cheap effects, even ramming a loud signal into a cheap box is amazing! ive got cheap BBD delayts for £30, quadraverb for £40, old digital effects are sooo cheap these days and full of character Smile

yeah the nice stuff costs a bomb but even cheap stuff, pedals, sounds amazinf IMO!

global communication always said its not about the synths youve got but the effects units.

boss se50/se70, old ibanez ones, alesis. grab cheap!

My KICKER bloke changed his mind so I may invest in cheap fx instead. Electro-Harmonix Soviet Big Muff, a patchbay and a Lexicon LXP-1 are on the radar.
The Prophecy is soon mine - and below budget too Smile
I pick the Prophecy up this evening...

Haven't managed to pick up any fx at all, keep being outbid. SO I've relocated the Kicker money and have managed to secure a Siel Orchestra instead with the original sustain pedal... I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY!!! Pick up on Tuesday!
The Orchestra (aka the Arp Quartet) is the string machine all over Portishead's Third album: Machine Gun, The Rip, etc...

poppycock Lol
it can sound rather similar to the Juno 60, it's velocity sensitive, uses the same Curtis chips as some Oberheims & SCI synths, has 12 more keys and portamento. I'm not sure you can VCO->VCF MOD with a juno either.

I'm fairly sure the AXes filter makes my neighbors dog howl. That's pretty unique.
cool. not really had much of a ply with it yet. still wiring up the damn studio Icon_cry

i shall have to dig deep when i get chance.

you got one then? is it actually stereo? i know its got two output but can you actually create true stereo patches, or is it just dual mono? need to find a manual.

cheers man.

enjoy

no. well. not exactly.

I've got an ax60. Allegedly they're the same synth.

it's a sad day if Akai truly bought out hollow sun...

ahh, mystified by the U/L mix...R jacks? I was Grin Still am in fact.
I thought that U/L would pan back and forth between left and right, and jack R stays dead center creating a "pseudo stereo effect" but to be completely honest I have both channels panned hard left and right and can't tell the difference. That's my two bits at least.

Don't forget VCO->VCF mod Falcon
Right, ok cool the easy to program one!

Yeah, its not entirely clear how the stereo is formed. apparently the chorus is stereo so thats ok. Was only wondering whether to use two channels or not. Will for now.

yeah, still setting up, cant wait to ge stuck in.

Cheers,
day one.
synths didn't even matter.
Any fruits of your labour with this synth Matt? Would like to hear some tweaking.

Have had the Blofeld out again recently which I'm sure has a similar sound, there's something stopping me selling it. Could be a classic in the future not to mention the sound which is so versatile but with an edge to it.
been busy moving house so haven't got round to it. In the process of getting my music desk sorted out so probably next week Smile

im sure you could pick on up again in the future bth, any digital mass produced synth should be cheap and easy to find, its the 70's and early 80s ones that hold the money

Maybe, but I've already sold one once and bought it again!
Korg TR-Rack - essentially a rackmount Trinity without the touchscreen

See if you can try it - I love mine, it's a lot of fun. The major downpoints are firstly it is monophonic, and it's quite difficult to wrap your head round at first - hence why you can pick them up for a good price (I paid £125).
The guy I bought it from was instantly regretting the decision as I walked out with it.
I'm picking up a Z1 tonight/tomorrow, which is essentially the polyphonic Prophecy with some additional gubbins. I have no room, but at the price is too good to pass this one up.

nice, a mate of mine picked up a z1 recently for about £350. A ridiculous bargain

I paid £200, hence why I had to grab it. One duff key, but fixable.

that is unfeasibly cheap compared to the release price.

I looked in a guitar center ad today and got a bit of a shock.

Arturia MiniBrute
Tom Oberheim Two Voice Pro
Access Virus TI2
Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 PE
Casio XW-G1

the synthesizer market looks like it's starting to get competitive. I wasn't expecting to see 3 non-Moog synths, but I definitely didn't expect a synthesizer/sequencer/sampler from casio...again. it's the CZ/FZ all over again - down to the battery power Lol

...can't afford any of them.
an Alesis HR-16, and a dual Coron DS7 clone housed in an old electric junction box with built-in triggers.
