What does everyone make of all the come backs recently?

Bowie, Simply Minds, Depeche Mode, Suede etc

Baffled
couldn't give a monkeys Icon_razz

but then I never much liked any of them anyway
Not a Bowie fan?
I like Low, but that's about it

Simple Minds: Life in a Day was quite good as I remember
Depeche Mode: no
Suede have never even impinged on my consciousness, just another lame indie band
Statto Wrote:Suede , just another lame indie band

In agreement with Robbie Williams then?

And now Primal Scream are back!
I didn't think any of these bands had actually been away??? They might have just got noticed again. I'm pretty sure I heard simple minds and Depeche mode a few times over the last 10 years with new stuff.

I love the fact Robbie Williams thinks he's some authority on music Lol

3 chord nobheads could at least play their own 3 chords unlike 99% of these 'magnificent' pop bands :P

Robbie Williams did Angels, end of. he has spent the rest of his career trying to recapture that moment, which was never going to happen as he could only play 2 chords :P
I really enjoyed the new Suede album actually. RW can hardly talk given he was in a band where he didn't write the songs or play an instrument. I think what Brett Anderson was saying about the commodification of music is pretty much bang on.

after 20+ years, the new "my bloody valentine" album is a fantastic listen

I am a big fan of Bowie and Depeche Mode. The Bowie album was pretty decent IMO.

Depeche Mode weren't that much "away", but I don't care at all for Simple Minds nor Suede.

As the motivation for (some) of those comebacks? You could always be cynical and say, it's the money (which likely plays some roll in it since they all happen to have still a loyal fan base who will support them).

However I consider the Bowie comeback to be one in style and appropriate.

A dreadful comeback is the "new" Pixies incarnation, which to me feels just like a cash in operation.

how about Godflesh? Smile

I approve of the Godflesh comeback. Loved their stuff as a teenager in the early to mid90s.

I can't agree with you on that. New album feels pretty fresh - has some classical Pixies feeling to it, but is raw enough, for my liking.
And now Billy Idol announces new album for October :I

i'm generally not a fan per se, but I do like a couple tunes on the recent Echo & The Bunnymen "Meteorites" May, 2014 lp. they got Youth on production, if yer down.

Prince announces two albums beign released this september. Technically, Prince was never really away though. Just some of the pauses between material of his was several years.

I guess, by now one could also include APhex Twin and Plastikman/Richie Hawtin here....
