Breakcore vs. the end times..

feeling the latest Praxis Amboss release.

its been a bit. breakcore is / has been "meh" for quite awhile now, in my world anyway

I'm still a huuuge Praxis Records fan tho, from way back in the day. Praxis still makes me happy. I've got lots of time for Praxis related stuff.

Amboss, Praxis 53, doin it.

Praxis records is a label that has kept it's level of quality for 20 years now. Strangely enough tho I don't own a singe one of their releases. Nice to see they are still going, and going strong at that.
Music critic for the Tally Ho
I hardly have any either...

018 Somatic Responses - Post-Organic EP
036 Low Entropy - Anarcho-Psychotic EP
043 La Peste - Safety First

and the two Anonymous Series 12s

there were supposed to be three of them
dunno what happened to the third
^^ nice.

what sets Praxis apart is that you know what to expect, you know what to get out of a Praxis release. it was never about quantity. each release - no matter how sporadic - is a continuation of a specific idea, that you hear throughout the history of the labels' sound. if you like noise, bass, huge sounds, distorted dance, ambience, & space, you'll find it. props to Fringeli for doing his thing for as long as he has. I'm still listening Smile whether its a political creative stance or more, I value labels like Praxis Records for staunchly doing the DIY thing & keeping the example out there, as another way to look at & present electronic related musics. its key, and it still needs to be done. not everything needs to be commodified ya know? right? right? heh.

i still have a couple early Sub/Version 12's as well. Darkstar.. which still owns btw. Smile

With Praxis you not only get good music, you get a attitude as well, call it "hardcore"-no-compromise-no-bullshit stance. I knew Pure personally, he is from Vienna as well. Used to be a great HC/Gabba DJ in the 90s. Don't know what he's up to lately tho.

Wow utterly shocked at some decent on that Terra Null recordings label, let alone Bombadier stuff. That Cirrus kid was such a dork, used to be v far up his own ass into hyperspecific neuro stuff while badmouthing other hyperspecific subgenres etc. I figured he'd be into nth level Phace mimicry right about now, but here he is releasing cool tunes by artists I've played with years ago etc Smile
I am also a big fan of Christoph De Babalon, a German guy in the game for roughly 20 years as well. I got a small collection of his records, though he isn't a very prolific producer. Did an e-mail interview with him for a fanzine I used to write for an eternity ago.

Anyways, he recently released a compilation of early works of his. Appears to be digital only.

Putting a muttleymarked on this thread. Ta.

Own very little breakcore, besides an Enduser LP called "Calling The Vultures", which is half cinematic downtempo. The vinyl pressing of that is very muffled, get the CD on eBay if you fancy it. Praxis I've heard of for quite some time, but I thought it was all too aggressive-for-the-sake-of-it stuff when I checked one tune. I should look further.
Low Entropy still delivers.

its stuff like this that did it for me. remember the ancient Widerstand forum?? .. old skool I know. some of the first stuff I ever heard on hanging on Widerstand were Low Entropy tunes.

I have been a fan since.

Low Entropy can get it. always. Have you checked his youtube channel????!!! Its kinda the ills.

and this tune is GREAT!!! TURN IT UP!!

Praxis is very cool, that "Dark Star" is a really important and influential record for me, along w/ other early Praxis, Ambush 1-5, Newskin#1 (also by Dan Hekate / similar to Ambush 5). Unfortunately I traded a friend 'Dark Star" while in college (circa 1999 / 2000?) for help with a programming assignment. Doh!!!
^^ yes Ambush of course.

this tune is kinda hot. Architect, from the "Consume, Adapt, Create" lp (Hymen), 2010

i don't mind some of The Demix (Radiograffiti - Milwaukee, Wisconsin) jams on this.

Acre Recordings (Edinburgh, UK) .. and related sounds.

feeling quite a bit of it. from day, I've always been a huge supporter of hiphop breakcore excursions when done decently. there ALWAYS needs to be more of it, if & when. its a shame that as an blatant influence of earlier breakcore / dhr related stuff back then, you don't hear much hiphop in the stuff. i love it. its a great pairing. when done right, it always has been. maybe that's some of the reason why I lost interest along the way (amongst other things. heh..hmm.) :shrugs:
