I was quite impressed with the techstep reformation that happened about the turn of 2010 proper in dnb. Neurofunk has always just been Opticals trendy buzzword for the music - no change needed from there, really - and a lot of the drumfunk Paradox cringeworthiness just ties in hand in hand with Optical. Ie they are forefathers of the principles. Lots of good music came about actually from aping the two trends. This thread reflects all that.

Obviously my neurogeek radar leans significantly towards the deeper, weirder, & definitely more abstract stuff. Considering there's a shitload of neuro jump up filling fields, raves & stadiums as of late, I have listened to a fare share of it over the past months, to see if there's some gems in the dirge that may appeal to my selective neuro tastes.  Although I do get the appeal in the energy of the stuff, over all so far there's not much that I like from the neuro jump up stuff.

I'm looking forward to checking out the forthcoming Mefjus lp set to drop April 2018.  I like the musicality of some of his tunes compared to typical, current neuro sounds, good balance of the weird & musical.  How it should be.

^^  I've never heard that before. "Jazztronauts" can fit in a techstep discussion as well, mos def.  There's specific tunes from back when that show when earlier neuro & techstep co-existed within the same mixes, a'la Kemal & Rob Data for example.    Great 2015 retro mix from Rob Data.

02. Konflict – Beckoning (Renegade Hardware)

Been a fan of da jungle dnb for 24 years (ish), hell nearly 25 years coming up, even did a dnb / jungle radioshow for 10 years back when.

Very little within straight up dnb catches my attention as a listener in the aftermath of said time frame. I prefer diverse dj mixes & selections. * FUCK purism *.

I don't listen to dnb artist albums at all really anymore. It would be a very rare occasion where I do.

But i'm listening to the releases & specific related dj mixes in this thread.

I prefer the Current Value "Deadly Toys" lp, but I ain't mad @ the new Mefjus lp. https://fanlink.to/MefjusManifest
