Got to give a shout out to the speciality Xmas snax that come out this time of year.
Mince pies? Get in. Stollen? Hyuummnnb. Panettone? That's right.
Turkey and red cabbage sandwiches too, on shit plastic white bread. Oh man.
Garners pixxled shallots as well, bound to make an appearance.

I already had so much of Anchor Brewing's Christmas Ale, I cannot handle anymore. As my favorite holiday beer, I bought 3 6-packs for Thanksgiving and only one other person tried it. Figured it would last to Xmas; it did not.

Not really sure what those first three things Macc listed even are. In my family we have coffee cake and mixed nuts (in shells), and my Dad makes jambalaya for dinner every Xmas.
You've never had Stollen?!
Well done on the beers. Better get another 12 cases. Just to be sure.

Panettone is the bestest.
Dont mind me a Pandora cake with a vigourous dusting of icing sugar.
Wouldn't mind a couple of Kilo's of Cheeselets this year to supplement the burden of drinking all this booze.

Actually to call them sweets is somewhat belittling to these fine jellied moursels...
My nan used to stash these away and gave us a damn good slippering if we dared to try and steal.

Nope, had to google that.

Fond memories reemerge of Sir Loris repeating the words "hmmmm, Stollen" (pronouncing it like "stolen") throughout my last visit
Some german xmas snax:
Lebkuchen (kind of gingerbread with dark chocolate coating)
Spekulatius (almond biscuit)
Dominosteine (made of lebkuchen cake, jelly and marzipan covered with a chocolate coating)
snaxmas
Btw, where did my avatar go?
We make French toast with panettone!
Unrelated: typing in that smiley code felt pretty nice just now! This may have to continue.

You beat me to it dodz.
Panetone FT FTW
Also, Cadburys Roses are a must in all Irish household over the holidays. Individually wrapped chocolates in various delicious flavours.. Or candy, for my American friends!
Also, Pate.. And lashings of good sourdough..
Last but not least, this year myself and my housemates rented a cooler, gas and tap and bought a keg of Guinness (on Friday, which is now empty) for the bar in my kitchen.
For me it's all about Tourtière aka French-Canadien meat pie. Yearly tradition that my mom or sister make from my grandmother's recipe. Ground beef, pork and the right ratio of spices topped with standard Heinz ketchup or chow chow aka green tomato ketchep. Only rolls out once a year and makes you look forward to the following year.
I'm talking about a cheese board. A cheese board which adequately covers the whole board with a plethora of cheeses. Cheeses that cover all bases. I'm jibing about wensleydale, stilton, mature cheddar, brie, cheshire, yarg, and double gloucester. B2b with :gherkin: , pickled onions of the spicy variety, and pickled red cabbage. Chutneys made from chestnuts, tomato, cabbage, and tamarind.
I picked up some turkey and stuffing crisps this morning to add to the xmas food pile!

We made stuffing cakes this year. Basically just cooked stuffing portioned out into about a bread roll size and baked. Was well received.

wifey does a great chicken breadcrumbed in stuffing, imo stuffing is a good addition to most savoury platters!
Love Stollen and Lebkuchen.
But now I am on a fully Indian kick through pakoras, bhajis, samosas and breakfast sandwiches with lashings of chilli sauce. Also, chilli con carne soup with coarsely chopped tofu cubes. Pork crackling alternating from turkey is the shiznit, wrapped up with pigs in blankets as a delicious dinner feed.
