TDD Chapter 6 – Back To Danger: TDD In Retrograde

Yes, you might have wondered about that switch of font – back to Times New Roman, are we? Seems like. So what is TDD 6 – the longest kept in 9 chapters of this Dastardly Diary, my lifetime's work in music crystallised, about this time?

It's about danger. Ooh, here's Dangerous Brian...or is it Bad Luck Brian?

In the ancillary photoplasmic gauze of postmodern life, modern meme – the cultural internet phenomena that belies images of people and things restructured under a set of prefixes – the gauze of the omnipresent photo-explosion becomes ever more apparent.

Life is seen more in rhetorical jabs at past present future, rather than the underlying “ifs”, “buts”, “whys”, “wherefors” of the world. What does this all mean?

We are talking about language on its most basic level, the breaking down of sustenance - “this” in prefixual terms – to its most simple set of corollaries. And “this” all leads, in my experience, to the extraordinary – and dangerous – phenomological “it”, the most commonly used descriptor in the English lexicon besides “the”, “a” and “he”.

It – the philosophical term – is always about danger, a leap of faith, an absurdity, a confusion, abolished by time, and by relaxation. It can involve intimacy, it can involve marriage, it can involve consent, it can involve a subject...we all know the last one.
But what, you ask, is “it” that's been bothering me this “Diagnosiness”? Conflict, the idea of conflicts in interests. I recently read 250 pages of Leah Mercer's outstanding “Who We Were Before” book (available on Kindle for Android phones – get the Amazon app). I will discuss the book, except to say it deals with “it”, the status of “doing it”, “getting away with it” (isn't Electronic – Getting Away With It the most amazing pop song after all these years?), “getting away from it”...in essence, it's a broken crystal ball of a novel, shattered into a million diarist segments that are wholly seat-gripping and engrossing. Buy it.

The thing that's aged me the most over my consent age for my soul mate, and my twenties at that, is the idea of conflict. I am really scared of it, to the point that “I” break integers of “I” - the fractal nature of approximate projections of people other than oneself – down into small pieces, then build them back up again like I'm constructing a ship for Lego gun slingers. A subject rendered with a point, and a defence put up against life chance.

Life chance is important. In an age of computer mobile games like Game Of Thrones, where “daily chance” becomes a substitute term for “luck”, as us over 25s still call it, luck is important to avoid conflict.

So, to encapsulate all this verbiage and freshen the hammock, is to suffocate “it” of its power – the only way out of “it”, as I see it, is to create “that”; a most lesser used prefix, ungodly really, down to the conceptual gripe humans have with fluidity for change.

Yet that's interesting in itself. Statto of Subvert Central – one of the prime movers in organising the SC zine with me and Lata – commented with a quote “You [humans]...I know nothing else like you, you're a disease, a cancer of this planet”. It was from a film...it was from a film; see, doesn't “it” crop up everywhere? Smile

As this is a diary and me wish to cement this body of work before I start the tenth chapter (1-9 is finalising at this stage, since 2006). Me wish to comment on “I and me”. The reason I have been replacing the negative subject prefix “I” (because I was originally so negative, as all young babies are, all traumatised by the Earth and its seven wonders of whatever, God bless us), so “me”...well, that seems to fit better. For a while at least.

But then while “me appreciates Smile”, as Fanu said to me supporting his instrumental hiphop dubplates, “me” over “I” is suffocating in large doses, complex and unnatural. The very notion of many me existing, although it is naturally more inclusory than the exclusory “I” (“I's never safe ~ Rie Hajinvken”) is, while acceptable, altogether patronising and, ultimately, superlatively vague. This type of philosophical dogma is normally reserved for people like Donald Trump, megalomaniacs with a megaphone larynx and a floppy post-hipster hairdo. The concept of self-esteem and self-abuse over worth is categorically destroyed, rendering all of us “depersonalised cogs” ~ Martin Luther King. And that won't do, no that won't do at all, if you ask “me”.

But isn't that last “me” usage a universal paradox all over again? Another germ in the Stochaistic ritual of the written word...”me”, cumulatively, then, is just an excuse. It's a masquerade. And notice how “Me” and “It” have become inseperable in this almost insufferable narrative. They seem bragadocio of the judgementalist. It has to be. How about “us” instead. Here's to us, as Busdriver said on “Beaus Airos LP”. We might actually get fed...and America might actually become great, not that “it” wasn't great to start with.

I'll let you ruminate from all this on the word “luck” from now on.

Luck leads to all the musical encounters in this book.

I was also thinking how I could downsize the books, the TDDs, along with all this logic. To make “it” less of a slog. Reading is enough of a slog as it is in information-hyper, Byzantine-Empire, fashionista glue. It's partially my fault, if I inflated my self-worth and TDD contributed to the problem common in 21st century diction. That problem is making the simple complex.

Overcomplicating things for the sake of it. We all do it, as we get older and we have less to prove, we do it less. Case in point: I'm 10 years older than when I started TDD, and I've matured as I expected. I also do not wish to complicate, because I've found my love, my spirit, my first last and everything (*sniff*), my heart is mended, and I've chance to pick up everyone else's pieces who may need a helping hand.

That said, personally, I suffered two bigger losses last year – my Nan who I'd known all my life, and my Uncle who I'd known, but not really known symbolically and figuratively, all my life. As I write this, the family are just sorting out the final processing with the funeral. Two completely different deaths: natural causes and self-abuse. It's hard to deal with, but the others involved have more to deal with. All the same, I cry. “Pull yourself together, Fluffykins” ~Nanny, Count Duckula.

While “I” have been thinking about “us”, the concept of “it” came under fire. That's the thing with singular pronouns. One tries to outdo the other; it's a fictional David Copperfield; a Rapunzel and the princesses golden hair; a story never to almost be told. The “it” becomes nominatively normalised and quixotically band-aided to the frenzy of fact, and the last link in the bias chain – we – becomes an option for disclosure. Going back to “Who We Were Before” Kindle Pbk, it's because “we” is all about meetings, and a synonym for meeting is “marriage”. And as you get married to something...it sounds morbid, but the way I look at it...

You lost the will to live, didn't you?

“It” is marriage. Because “it” regenerates, never goes away...in meme terms on Twitter, “Once you get attached, you're fucked”...and so becomes the haranguing relationship with the life/death/life cycle, commented on so laboriously and lavishly by Clarissa Pinkola-Estes in her 400 page plus “Women Who Run With The Wolves” paperback.

There is the link with danger – death. But death's nothing to be afraid of. “Life's too short to be afraid of the dark” ~ Atmosphere. “This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time” ~ Fight Club. “This is my existence, and it's beginning one second at an hour”. ~Muttley.

Can I stop to step out of Pseud's Corner now?

There's an exclusive mix in TDD 6 and in publicity.

If you were listening to the 15 Minutes Of Fame Mix Series in the early days, you will remember the “Back To Dangerous” mix. There was a track within under the same name by Zelienople, a psychedelic band (my favourite psych band). “Cover up, all the fears I see / cover up, all the things I see / had enough of it, enough of it, today / had enough of it, enough of it, today”. What does this reminiscing mean? It means “dealing with 'it'”. If that route is a scenic one, I.e avoiding the issue, that's okay.

Audio Clips – is the ClipZIP still active?

You betcha! Only I don't have to worry about self-cutting so many; sites like Juno adopted the audio clip download model and it's probably a reason why many people are still in business. Look.

As ever, I'm interested in sequential circuits so to speak instead of individual clips, because an individual clip is just hollow noise.

001 Burial – Nightwalk / 002 FL – Let Yourself Go (Full Track) / 003 Oasis – Do You Know What I Mean? / 004 William Basinski – For David Robert Jones (33rpm) / 005 FL – Verdana Vault (Full Track) / 006 Zelienople – Back To Dangerous / 007

Notwithstanding, if you REALLY want me to build you something from my own pseudo-tastemaker, audio-programmer standpoint, I can program you something. Phew. “I” used “I” with confidence. That's hard.

BECAUSE THE INDIVIDUAL CONSENT TO ENJOY LIFE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR LIFE TO THRIVE.

Now, this myopic is six pages. We do not want to make “it” any more flogged than “that”. “That” is always dead, always in heaven. Life ends one minute at a time in most psychological fathomages. For me mine ends every second; I'm just on that level.
The point was to explain all of “this” to you. Ever since I performed to a sold out audience (*blush*) from act one at GTI Oxford in September 2015, exactly four years in a journey from moving on to live with my sweet in spirit – I came out the other side of it well, now I've got a sanctuary to live in, basically a hospice – my life has been under explicit questioning by shady characterisations of people. Who are people, when they're not humans? Perhaps “humans” are the “people” who've just lost “it”.
something weird occurred with the font size which was just massive
I've reduced it to normal

Fairy
Kisskiss

Then there is the question of what "that" is, if not "this". To me, "that" is substance, and "this" is the enacting of size.
what are your thoughts on this prologue my friends?
"Yeah it's crap" ~ Andy Pipkin.
Well i dont think "it" is infinitely crap. Mr Muttley just think that its seen better days in terms of appropriation.

Appropriation - what "we" do "it" for, is key, i think. Masters of electronic music constantly ask themselves the appropriation question...and thats the other thing - repetition is boring, and "we" get "sick of it". After a while you need to take a break. That sort of thing.
It is what you feel. What is this you think.
To be honest it's a bit lengthy and esoteric for the modern reader. Perhaps you should think about publishing your thoughts independent of your music, seems like you have a lot of very deep stuff to say and maybe finding the right audience might help to boost your contributions as a niche writer.
I agree, me appreciate you
I got scolded for using me as prefix by who i'd like to think is my soulmate still too many times recentky Oops Hugs
