then try to tell me that source direct puts him to shame. i'd say they're equals at the very least, but they're not really coming from the same place, so it's hard to compare.
no Sky Icon_sad
how wrong,how very wrong.

No-one has a back cat 2 compare with Dillinja.

tis a great mix as well Xyxthumbs
dilli has had a few great classics - but no where near enough as the source.

source direct was and still is proper drum and bass.

dillinja now - cmon.. i mean.. fast car is just pop music.

Really without understanding Dillinja its very hard for anyone to comment on his situation currently.

Have you seen the release schedule for Valve this year, that ain't pop music dammit
i thought u were looking at back cat?

come on,it's not even close.

this thread is even worse than the 'high contrast is better than dillinja' thread on do-slow the fuck out of my pc-a.

then MR Alpha O-Meagre you quite clearly in the opinion of the soulbeatrunnerup do not really know.

now get back in your studio, and stop trying to pretend like you really do know something

Hahaha
Kinda a weird way of looking at it, maybe a 'In my opinion i believe ....' thread
nah.. deep mystical drum and bass every time by source for me
i spot 5 classics in the dilli list there..
not a hatter but dilli lost the plot a long time ago
long live the crane!
Yeah but at least Dilly is still making music.

In my view they are both jungle legends. I love both their back cats, particularly before 1997.

yeah, but we're talking back catalogue!! aside from 'yo bitch', i have been about as impressed with source direct in the few years as i have been by dillinja (then again, i actually like fast car, in an 'i can't believe music like this exists and i can't believe that i can't stop listening to it' kind of way)

soulbeatrunnerup Wrote:dilli has had a few great classics - but no where near enough as the source.

i don't really think source direct had that many classics! to me, a large majority of their back catalogue is just mood music - no hooks, just endless drumwork over brooding atmospherics. i find those tracks to be pretty much interchangable, because they're all trying to do the same thing. dillinja's older 'classics' seem more distinct to me because he changed up the mood from track to track, and also didn't shy away from hooks now and then.
People sticking up for Dilli ........ it brings a tear to my eye, maybe 2004 will be a good year after all

Don't talk shit. Fast Car is crap, but we're talking about Back Cat. Dillinja has a fucking unbelievable amount of classic tunes, the tunes in that mix are about half of them, missing out tunes like In The Mood, Silver Blade, Violent Killa, Warrior Jazz, Deadly Deep Subs remix... it's insane. Source Direct are fucking amazing, but you can't say they're any better than Dillinja just because Dillinja's made some cash ins... Soulbeatrunna - you can't tell people like Alpha Omega, Scart Ridge, Scope, and Altered Ego that they "just don't know," it doesn't work that way when you're new on a board. You try and make friends? Remember?

and Scart - whats wrong with Yo Bitch? Love that tune Smile
source direct is legendary, but dillinja's back cat beats sd's back cat imo... he's (was) just more diverse and prolific

when you say 'still is' you must be referring to back cat since jim and phil havent done anything together in aeons.....

and if we're talking back cat then dillinja's back cat is big.....

and heavy....

you probably havent heard much dillinja other than in the last couple of years to be making threads like these.....

have a hunt - theres some gems schun Xyxthumbs
thats what i mean..
so so deep that the hooks are in the beats...
timeless.
and dillinja's early beats don't??? Icon_eek
Dillinja's a legend & rightly so

Source Direct definitely did some bad ass trax but alas at times sounded too similar to Photek whereas Dilly was always out on his own & had no equal.
